Edible Gardening

Vivi’s Kitchen Garden 176: Homegrown food. Edible Britain. National Gardening Week 2019.

A little one off video as part of a larger collaboration to celebrate the RHS National Gardening Week 2019. In which I chat about all things ‘grow-your-own’.

The collaboration was the wonderful idea of Liz & Erica. I have put links to their channels below. Their channels will also give you the full playlist of all the fabulous YouTubers who took part – a wonderful effort from a fantastic community of gardeners all over the country. A massive hurrah to Liz & Erica for all the work they put into organising this. Thank you!

  1. As well as organic food in shops is not always what they say they are! well proven that most of the veggies and fruits are sprayed ! and tagged as organic/bio and all sorts to make higher sales!!!

  2. I love YT collaborations! Especially gardening ones. What a great community, well done. I do watch the other two channels too and am looking forward to hearing all the other channels' reasons for growing their own and about the great food being grown.

  3. Hi Vivi,
That's a great thing, National Gardening Week.
I've been subscribing to Erica's and Liz's channel for a long time.
The two have shot a video together many times. At first, I always thought Liz was Erica's mother. Haha, I guess I was wrong.
I just looked at the playlist:
31 channels, my God! It will take me forever to watch all the videos.
I also keep rejoicing in my things to harvest:
A few calendulas, tomatoes, chillies and peppers and herbs.
A few more flowers, not for eating, but to rejoice.
Because: Even the smallest balcony or garden is better than none at all.

So we're celebrating National Gardening Week. I will do the same, even if it does not exist in Germany at all.

    Big hug
    Claudia

  4. Have you thought about doing a live Q @ A session? Would be helpful, I was plagued with whitefly on brassicas last year, wasn't sure how to deal with it as I'm trying to grow organically, never had that problem in the past. Love your videos. ❤️

  5. Hi Vivi, thanks so much for joining in with this, I loved your reasons. When I was on maternity leave 2 years ago I pretty much binged watched all your videos.

  6. It’s such a fab collaboration isn’t it Vivi! There’s nothing quite like growing our your food. I’ve been steadily working my way through everyone’s fabulous videos 😊🌱

  7. To be brutally honest……. fresh, delicious food. Here in the middle of the continent (N America) fresh locally grown tasty produce is a rare thing most of the year. Here it is as close as the garden.

  8. Great video Vivi. I look at my plants in my very small garden every day..water..then it rains 😅 what has rain got in it that my water butt hasn't…they seem to double in size over night 😅 take care.

  9. I agree about the excitement. Today I discovered a couple of my parsnip seeds germinating. I have never managed to get a parsnip to germinate before. Major event.

  10. Wonderful Viv! It is addictive. We are growing our first ever from seed garden. Excited about a “ harvest.” 🌱😍

  11. I wish the USA had something like this. I have a lot of RHS books. We have the America hort society (Same books but with american verbage) But the country don't celebrate growing here. I'll just celebrate with all you across the pond! Cheers and happy growing😀

  12. I saw Richard and Paul's video on this earlier today too. What a fabulous collaboration. So great to get to know you all a bit better with each new post.

  13. Organic homegrown is always best. I still can't plant my starters outside because it's still too cool where I live so it is wonderful to enjoy it with you on your allotment. Thank you so much!
