I have been to Lofoten, Norway, to give a lecture on how to grow vegetables in cold climate. I got to meet Trine Edvardsen, who showed me her vegetable garden, just nearby a huge mountain.

  1. Very interesting video Sara. My biggest issue at the moment is wind, which can wreck vegetables, so I’m working out how to put some windbreak up. I think it will make all the difference. Trine has done very well in such a demanding climate!

  2. Horse manure, straw in cold frames( I call it a hot box)…. 32" tall x 30" wide x 96" long with a good solid window or glass door for a top! …..that's what I find help in a cold climate…..

  3. How inspiring! I too live in a cold climate in Maine, USA. I can grow Spinach, some lettuces, beans, some potatoes and have tried carrots, and a few other veggies, but they didn't make it. Probably my fault, I think that I need to water more and protect my plants from the wind and storms that we get here in the mountains. This video has helped me to not stop trying! Thank you!

  4. I was in Lofoten in the summer last year and there was some pretty rough weather even then. Good for Trine! That is not an easy climate to grow in.
