36” x 96” Trestle Table
I’ve been thinking about this project for a long time so it was really nice to see it come together. The table is made with a combination of quarter sawn and rift sawn White Oak. The Legs are attached to the feet of the table with a through mortise and tenon joinery and pegged with half inch oak dowels. The trestle is attached to the legs with a massive lap joint and reinforced with a 5 inch lag bolt.
The braces that support the tabletop are attached to the trestle with lap joints and reinforced with 4 inch lag bolts.
The combination of joinery and solid 8/4 white oak make the base of this table incredibly strong.
The tabletop is attached to the base with handmade wooden buttons that will allow the top to expand and contract with the seasons.
I hope you enjoy this project video and if you do build the table please share it on your social media and tag me. I’d love to see what you made.
Be good, Jon

  2. There is a lot of thought, and detail that went into that table. Mainly in the trestle, and supports underneath. Very nice.
Thanks for sharing this Mr. Jon

  3. Did you need to glue the trestle to the legs. Wouldn't the lag screws be sufficient? Without the glue, the table could be disassembled if needed. Thoughts?

  4. Another brilliant designed piece of furniture with such a wonderfully put-together video/narration to go with it. Thanks for what you do, Jon!

  5. Hey Jon,I just bought a saw stop and was wondering if I could ask you some questions.Didn’t know if you did that on this channel

  6. This is rick again…. around 35 min in to the video thought the brake might go off. Just wondering how close u have to be . Very nice looking table

  7. When I saw this video drop, I’ve been patiently waiting all week for Saturday morning to watch it with my cup of coffee. It did not disappoint. Great video

  8. This was awesome to watch. Thank you for filming this. The details always blow me away. Incredible work.

  9. Great looking table, Jon~!! For the tabletop, did you to & fro at all between dominos or biscuits, or were joints with floating tenons the clear choice on this project? Understanding that there are multiple ways to go about it, I'm interested in your decision/thought process. Thanks much~!

  10. G'day mate, I noticed when laid the table top onto the bar clamps you didn't protect the boards with tape – is it a furphy that the glue and aluminium will stain the wood?
