James Prigioni: My Garden is INFESTED… And Yours Might Be Too (Spotted Lantern Fly)

The Spotted Lantern Fly is a super invasive species that is spreading like wildfire through the United States, Japan, South Korea, India, China, and Vietnam. Now is the time to get out there and remove the eggs of this invasive pest before they hatch into a bigger problem.

Thanks for the kind words and support 😁🐕❤️

  1. This is my second year of gardening. Last year whet my appetite and this year I purchased four 4×4 beds and one 6×3. I'm hoping to have better results and am looking forward to seeing if companion planting and interplanting works. Let's gooo!

  2. Thank you for showing this. I'm not in the danger area thank goodness because I can see they are pretty invasive.

  3. Thanks so much for this. I live in the same area and last year I was swatting hundreds of adult lanternflies. It felt like I was fighting a losing battle. I already knew about the eggs, but not specifically what pattern to look for at this time of year.

Another tip I have. Save all the spiders you can. They're one of the best natural predators of spotted lanternflies, and the ideal organic pest solution for any gardener.

  4. Those bugs better not be coming for your beautiful food forrest!! 😣
    Good luck 🍀

  5. Love Tuck. ❤ here’s what I thought: can you just take a lighter and carefully burn them off? Would that work too? Pests in my garden drive me crazy! This method looks too cumbersome to me and I might not get them all. No? Thank you! ❤

  6. I’ve wanted to grow hazelnuts for years but I keep putting it off. I’m zone 8b in the Gulf Coast area. Hazelnuts are sold as 12”-15” twigs at best, and thru 😖 Gurneys. Of course two are needed. How long did it take your hazelnut to get so nice & bushy? Thanks so much.

  7. I saw a teensy tiny praying mantis last year—amazing critter!—so I’m hoping for a good lot of them this year.

  8. Omg I hate those things! I'm on the other side of Jersey from you, James, and I agree, they're just awful. Thanks for doing this great informative video. You not only identify the Spotted Lantern Fly, but show the eggs and how to remove them effectively. This is information I haven't seen anywhere else! You made a great Public Service Announcement. Thank you! ❤ Tuck

  9. James and Tuck Howdy. We'll be on the look out for this pest. From East Coast and never heard of them. You are such a good teacher. Blessings from Zone 6b

  10. Glad you knew to do this. Last year here in my NW Arizona community we had a hoard of Grasshoppers! I probably had 1000 here in my 1/4 acre of yard. Yuck. Ate even my Bearded Iris as well as the leaves of the Fruitless Mulberry and my veggies and grapes! Bad and sad. No sight of them so far.

  11. If you have grapevines, these insects will infest all of it. If you have stucco walls, they WILL infest that as well. I suggest getting one or three of the long-necked lighters and just burning them as you see them. Also, as James said, release the Mantids!
