  2. I’ve grown that olive in zone 9b. A really hard freeze (~20) will kill it off. Additionally, the olives are small and not good enough to protect from freezes. It also takes quite a bit of work after picking the olives just to get them to be edible.

  3. I have a sweet bay laurel and it grows huge. I have to prune it heavily and often. I planted Chilean guava too but mine is tiny. Yours looks gorgeous. good luck!

  4. To my garden in the uk I’ve added a fig, that apparently grows well here, an apple and pear tree and a plum, all dwarf root sticks so they have gone in to big builders tubs that you can grow in, added lots of drainage holes. And they weren’t bear root either so hoping to get fruit on them this year. Not the fig, but the others apparently this is there 2nd season so she said they should fruit this year. So let’s hope so.

Do you know the best way to fertilise them? There are some in the garden in ground that have been here years I don’t know how long and the fruit has been rubbish, bout quality and quantity I personally feel they need some nutrients but don’t know how best to do it? Any ideas??

  5. I thought about a Bay, but in researching it I wasn't sure it would do well in 8A Looking forward to seeing how it does

  6. Hi, can you share from where did you get the bay leaf and olive tree?? I didn't know we can grow them in NC.

Thank you for all you tips!! I do enjoy the content of your channel. Very helpful when I first started growing figs. I would love to add bay and olives to my garden. Thank you!

  7. I've been seeing red fleshed apples being advertised by some of the fruit tree nurseries that I've ordered from. Been curious if they were really that good. If so, I may have to get one. Have considered an olive tree as well. Too many fruit trees to plant…

  8. I have been wondering if climate change will effect my growth zone. I'd sort of like to be in a 7a from 6b. It would open up some possibilities – and I know it doesn't really work like that.

  9. Very nice! Have you got a mulberry tree? They are delicious and should grow in your area

  10. Yay!! I have always wished to grow an olive tree!! Glad there's a variety that might do decent in zone 7b 🤗

  11. Will have to look up who has the pink pearl apple trees! The apple tree in the yard when I bought my house has to come down–no saving it, sadly. This sounds like it might be a good replacement!

  12. Those Chilean guavas are not hardy when young. I lost mine the first winter and my neighbor lost like 15 of them. I'm assuming you got them from one green world? I'm zone 8b pnw.

  13. My brother keeps wanting me to grow the bay laurel? I just thought they got to big. After seeing your video I believe I have enough room to give it a shot.
    Thank you
Oh my man just started watching your channel 😃

  14. I had 2 Chilean guava, 1 died, the other looks ill for half the year. I had them in-ground with slightly acidic soil, partial shade, in zone 8b. I hope you have a polination partner and yours fruits better than mine.

  15. hope you have better luck with fruiting of the chilean guava. after many years of flowering only, we got our very first single tiny fruit that we're waiting on.

laurel leaves there's no real need to dry them out before use, straight from bush that we have in a pot. slow and strong performer.

both have had zero problems with in terms of any pests or disease. i thin branches and stake main stem of the guava, which can whip around too much with strong wind, that can weaken plant at base.

  16. I'm in zone 8a on Vancouver Island. Last year I bought an Olive tree, Bay Laurel, and a Chilean Guava. We've had what I'd call an extreme winter so we'll see how these plants come back in the spring. We got a foot of snow dump and it broke the 2 main branches of the Chilean Guava.

  17. You should get goumi berries there perenial nitrogen fixing shrubs that make edible fruits that are very cold hardy there very easy to grow.

  18. Awesome video! I appreciate the info, I LOVE bay leafs on everything, from tomato sauce, to chicken soup, or beef stew! I am in the same zone as u, so I'm hopeful. It would be some addition to an herb garden!
I'm originally from Long Island, and you sound very much like a fellow newyorker!

  19. I have wanted to try a Bay Laurel. Hoping to move this year, so sticking to container gardening for now. Hubby sure is gonna hate moving all of the containers…….

  20. Love your content and I have learned a ton from your channel. I subscribed and I look forward to seeing your videos when they come out. That said, you spam your old videos way too much. It takes over the subscription page. I know you may do it to help bump videos but I just scroll through them, you may be losing views because folks are scrolling past the spam and in doing so may miss a new video.

  21. Thanks for the update! I’ve got the Chilean guava growing along with the verigated version on some 5 in containers! I also have the pink apple! The olive seems dope I’ve got the more common one growing in a container and bay leave I don’t consider as I rarely use it. Either way thanks for the recommendations I purchased them after seeing your videos!

  22. As someone who is completely new to gardening but full of excitement, your tips, and the information you share with us is so beneficial for me. Thank you so much for all this and I will try to keep up to make this world a better place, sharing mind experiences and ups and downs. Wishing you all the best and take care. 🙂
