If you are a gardener in zone 9a or 9b, there are so many gardening tasks to get done year round. But in March is when all of the planting usually starts to begin for all of our warm season vegetables. However, depending on the weather in the exact moment you may still want to hold off planting to be sure that your plants don’t face an unexpected freeze or storm.

But if the weather is warm enough and there are no temperatures below 40 and no storms in the near forecast, then now is a great time to start transplanting. Then once the soil is around 75-85 degrees, it’s a great time to start direct sowing your seeds.

Continue watching the video to hear all of my advice for what to get done in your garden during the month of March. And if you’d like a guide to follow that will help you grow a successful garden all year long be sure to check out my Complete Zone 9b Guide below.

  1. Based on one of your videos, I decided to plant my broccoli and cauliflower this past fall (it always bolts when I plant it in January/February). It's still growing, but the plants are still pretty small and I'm wondering if they are going to produce veggies or if I should just pull them. Do they grow a LOT slower when you plant yours in the fall?

  2. I'm in 9A.I planted Brussels Sprouts in late October. The plants are big and beautiful, but have no Sprouts on the stalks. Should I give them more time?

  3. As someone who is completely new to gardening but full of excitement, your tips, and the information you share with us is so beneficial for me. Thank you so much for all this and I will try to keep up to make this world a better place, sharing mind experiences and ups and downs. Wishing you all the best and take care. 🙂
