Welcome to our channel! We are located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest (PNW)! We are in the middle of our journey to create a beautiful Japanese maple garden and develop bonsai trees for everyone to enjoy. Our garden is under construction but we hope to open it up to public in the near future! Follow us if you love Japanese maples and want to know what’s happening in our garden! In this channel, we focus on walking thru our Japanese maple bonsai garden throughout all seasons, discussing how to prune Japanese maples, how to air layer Japanese maples, how to propagate Japanese maples and how to take care of them including pruning, fertilizing, etc.

  1. Love your videos! Thank you from the UK! I've been repotting some of my maple bonsai this week, the ones that have woken up early in my pollytunnel, I can't wait for spring either, keep posting the lovely vids 🙂

  2. The tree that you said you just reported I see the leaves are a little farther Beyond where we're at in Pennsylvania. Is that the stage in which you find repotting best?

  3. You have such an amazing looking garden!! I am impressed and jealous. I noticed that your seedlings and very young trees are planted in what looks like organic soil (dirt, bark, etc) mixed with perlite or pumice. How long do you grow them in organic soil before you change it to the more traditional bonsai soil (akadama, pumice, lava)? Is it possible to grow them in akadama, pumice and lava from the very start? Or is the “traditional” mix for mature trees only? I have read that for really mature deciduous bonsai (Japanese and Trident maples) that 100% akadama is used. Do you use 100% akadama for any of your trees? Or do you mix the akadama with anything like bark, lava or pumice? I have one mature ‘Katsura’ Japanese maple bonsai that I will be repotting soon. It is in the refinement stage of its development. It’s currently in a mix of akadama, pumice and lava. What would you suggest? I think the PNW is too wet for 100% akadama. I live in the same zone (8b) as you I think, I’m in Tacoma, WA I’m thinking of mixing akadama with some pine bark. Is that a good idea or a bad idea? What’s your soil mix for mature maple bonsais in the refinement stage?

Thank you for all the great videos you make! I love to admire all your hard work that has produced awesome bonsai!! Keep it up!
