Garden Plans

Growing Through Challenges : Seed Planting & Sustainable Food Forest Prepping

Living off-grid can be a challenging but rewarding lifestyle choice, and setbacks are an inevitable part of the journey. However, with resilience, perseverance, and careful planning, we continue to overcome setbacks and make progress toward a sustainable and self-sufficient lifestyle off the grid

One key aspect of off-grid living is growing your own food, and spring is the perfect time to start planting seeds and prepping your food forest. With the setbacks we have had with our Geodesic Dome, we decided to take a step back and prepare to grow our food for the year.

Ultimately, we are moving forward with our off-grid journey and remain committed to our goals. By prioritizing our dome repairs and focusing on food production strategies, we know we can weather any setbacks that come our way and continue to move forward toward a more fulfilling and rewarding way of life.

We keep pushing forward and with every failure, we learn a better way how to homestead. Living off the land is not something we ever thought was possible in today’s society but with determination to escape the rat race, we inch our way to a happier, healthier existence not only in harmony with our own bodies but in oneness with nature all around us.

  4. I was thinking about you guys when we got that wind storm. It got pretty crazy for a while. Glad the dome made it through!

  5. Jes and Sean are y'all going to put insulation underneath and around the dome ? I was also thinking for the inside floor maybe get some of those foam mats to put over the floor , it would help keep the air from coming up from underneath and cushion the floor . If y'all decide to use the foam mats as a floor covering then you could get some big throw rugs to go on top of the foam mat flooring. I know y'all said that y'all will be putting bigger steps up but in the mean time Jes needs a hand rail to hold on to .. Don't want her or anyone else falling down them. I can't wait to see how y'all's garden grows this year . I have seeds that I need to plant I hope that I will be feeling better this week so I can try and get them in the soil. Y'all take care and keep on Doing and Growing .

  6. Man,you guys are doing such great things! I wondered about a sub floor on top of the present lumber? Sounds like you have a plan, though. Great work!

  7. I love you guys too. I love seeing your progress. I'm real excited for garden time too.

  8. Another awesome video! Check out The Woodland Escape on YT. He built his own blacksmith shop and note his videos are set for the 1700s. You both rock!

  9. Can you put some filler or tiny pieces of wood in you gap spaces? That’s what they did with our hardwood floors . It’s a thought🤷🏻‍♀️
