  2. Just found your channel I live in Wilmington as well and this is my first year growing!

  3. Another method you could try is to cut some more black plastic into 1' or 2' strips and staple one of the long edges to the wood at the base of your bed. Then extend those strips out into the aisle, as you did with the cardboard, and use your spikes to secure the plastic in the aisles on top of the plastic you just stapled to the beds. That might be a more permanent solution.

  4. I will be anxious to see if the weeds still come up between the cardboard and wood. They always find a way.

  5. Hi
Where you bought trash can for make compost and how much you paid ? Could you let me know items number ? Please

  6. I have been saving boxes to do this as well but didn’t think to bend it up against the bed! Thanks for that tip! Also, what hoops do you like for holding up insect/frost/shade cloth? I’m having a hard time finding something for my raised beds.

  7. I most definitely will be trying this! I have so many boxes and never thought to cut them down to strips and fold them to form to the side of the beds. I’ve used the cardboard on the ground between the beds but not up the sides of the beds. Thank you.

  8. Call the police and say you have weed in your garden and they will come man strong and remove it if not legal in your state.. nuts not good for dogs

  9. "What the hell are you doing with all those cardboard box?" , said the wife. You're becoming a hoarder. Lmao . "I'm using it for gardening, I replied" That was a couple of days ago and now I see your video. Lmao

  10. Cardboard is made lots of glue… not sure of it's toxicity…. the cardboard is likely made in China, who don't care.

  11. Cardboard also attracts worms. Before Hurricane Michael, I had pine trees and used straw for strawberries. Since Hurricane Michael, I had to buy the straw. There has to be a less expensive way, a solution to shredded cardboard. I bought an 18-page cross shredder from sam’s club. So far the shredded cardboard is working great in the garden, free mulch that attracts worms.

  12. I plan to use all of these boxes I have in my no till garden! Great idea for the rhizome based grasses that continue to invade my garden.

  13. I am thinking that instead of only having the cloth meet the bottom of the boards. I would have the cloth go up the side of the boards of the raised beds about an inch or two and then attach it to the wood itself to keep the weeds out.

  14. Great idea. I don't have enough sun for a garden, but 8 do have a couple of very small flower beds that I've been fighting weeds and creeping Jenny for a few years. The weed barrier is no match for the creeping Jenny.

  15. Yeah, cardboard under pavers will prevent weeds for a little while until it breaks down and then you'll have to keep working at it… But intelligent gardeners will place black plastic under the timber of the raised beds to provide a basic barrier prior to putting down weed matting in the walk ways. Cardboard is useless as a weed mat because it breaks down and you'll need to keep replacing it and pulling weeds… The best way is to layer your garden beds with weed matting on the bottom of beds, then a couple of layers of cardboard, wood chips, branches, and then your planting layer of soil. Zero weed maintenance. Plastic serves a purpose and is useful when combined with other materials and placed with intelligence. We have stunning gardens and no weeds. Easy peasy.

  16. I use screenings around my raised beds. If weeds do happen to germinate in the screening they are super easy to pull out.

  17. No, no, those pesky weeds are going to find their way up between the cardboard and the raised bed….
