First Spring Planter of 2023! 🌷🌷🌷 || Spring Container with Perennials || Spring Container Garden

I just couldn’t wait any longer! I swung by Home Grown Plants in Farmersville, TX and spent some time shopping for spring plants. Since it is so early in the season, I thought it might be fun to use perennials in the spring container. That way I can reuse them in the garden after I am done with the spring planter.

  1. The planter turned out well. Be careful where you out the vinca minor. It is aggressive and will root where it touches soil. I put some in a planter and was not careful. It was a bear to pull out of my bed where it had escaped.

  2. The hummingbirds love salvia greggii (greg-i). Blooming until frost. I cut mine back by half at least twice a season to keep it tight. Your container turned out very nice.

  3. I live in the Houston are zone 9. I am seeing lots of the petunias out already. Last year I waited until March and they were gone. Suggestions on how best to keep them alive as I think it is to early to plant in planters. I love your videos!!!

  4. I wish there was an emoji for jealous. Northern Illinois is expecting a snow/ ice storm. When I get the gardening itch I go to the local nursery and just take in the smells. Beautiful planter

  5. Planter turned out cute!. I am in 6a and we won't get any plants really for another month. Can't wait!

  6. This is beautiful! I don't normally like varigation but this totally works. Strangely I can't find most of those plants and I live in 9b.

  7. Oh my gosh!!! Wish we had a Home Grown Plants near us. What a beautiful early selection you have. The planter turned out amazing, as usual, and I'm always impressed at how many plants you can fit into one planter. Definitely keep the variegated vinca as a spiller for your planter.

  8. Beautiful, love your plant choices. You could try like willow branches (trader Joes) to lift a couple strands.

  9. I’m lucky with vinca: my blooms are cobalt (Zone 6b, somewhat acidic soil, definitely shady moist well draining soil)

  10. I LOVE it, too, Amanda! Actually, this gorgeous creation is one of my very favorites of yours ever! Color combo is
    heavenly!! Linda. πŸ’—πŸ€πŸ’š

  11. I’m in Ontario, Canada and vinca is highly invasive here. My neighbour has some on the far side of her house and it still ending up in my garden. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

  12. Absolutely beautiful! I have a container similar to the one you used, and now I'm excited to fill mine with beautiful flowers!! So excited for Spring!!

  13. Beautiful! It makes me wish I lived in a metropolitan area that actually had such a variety of plants available in stores.

  14. Absolutely stunning! Thank you for the inspiration to add some more color into my early spring!! LOVE the veronica and salvia together. Have a great weekend 😊😊
