I would think you would need a real gutter flusher of rain to see it in your trenches and I hope it helps prevent flooding in your garden. The university horticultural student idea would be interesting but I would think you would want some input on the projects to some degree. Hope the cistern work can get started soon in time for the dry season. Blessings..

How do you sort things out? You sort it out one item at a time, one row at a time, one project at a time. You've got quite a bit of time to do it in, too, and you're still learning! Give yourself a break! Do what you can, and start again the next day. You can do this – Just not all at once. Each season will get easier as you learn and adjust.

Any dead branch below head level should be cut off so one can traverse the area. Ivy don't like direct sun light if I remember right. Where's the chickens ? Cup of bleach in that cistern wouldn't hurt anything.
