We live in southeastern Illinois on a 41 acre homestead. We just finished building our log cabin in 2018. Now we are focused on trying to grow our own food and raise livestock. Follow us on our journey we continue to develop our homestead and farm, while becoming more self sufficient.

  1. Beautiful hard work. I love the country. If I were young again, I might even want to live off the grid. We love your content. Red Cardinal Kitchen supports you.

  2. I'm trimming mine later today after it warms up. Why didn't you just chip those branches you trimmed and put them right back on the trees?

  3. Nice job cleaning up the fruit trees. It helps that you don’t have any of that white stuff on the ground. Do you spray your trees at all with any kind of dormant season treatment?

  4. Another good vlog, Evan. The orchard looks great. The TYM is a beast. It is so versatile.

  5. Potatura pessima. Mai distribuire materiale non decomposto, porta nematodi alle radici e per ultimo una bella marketta. Non ci siamo!!!!!

  6. Evan – You've made some comments in recent videos that make me think you get a fair bit of criticism from some viewers. On behalf of those of us who respect you and Rebekah, and enjoy your content, my apologies. I hope the naysayers don't make YT a really bad experience for you. You do a fantastic job with your videos and managing the channel. You've grown so much since starting, it's been really impressive to watch. I always look forward to what you post and your channel is one of my top go-to channels on a regular basis. Thanks for what you do!

  7. mix lime pellets with the chips & compost for that sweet soil. Spring is on the way.

  8. Ordered ours today, Thanks for the discount code. Oh and they ship to Canada for very minimal cost, currency conversion was actually more lol.

  9. I am looking to by the garden package with Clyde’s chart for my son. I’m having trouble finding it 😮

  10. JudithB I am trying to work outside every time the weather cooperates!! I did some repair work on the 3'x24' strawberry bed and covered the 3 hoops with bird netting and row cover on top of the netting. I got 60 bareroot plants and getting them planted. Still got to add rabbit poo and a new layer of cyprus mulch. Our local bugs dont seen to have the bugs in their gut to chew the Cyprus mulch like they do the pine shavings. Pea row is next to be worked on and planted. I have gotten new apple trees, blueberries and blackberries bareroot and they need potted up asap. I started some flats of cold crops and transplanted them today in the gh. So much to do, but feels good to be a bit ahead for a change!!! LOL!!

  11. @8:37 because the bark is still attached at the bottom, you could have taped the separated bark to the tree for better healing.

  12. I've been told that nothing should be put around the trunk of the tree near the ground, it allegedly suffocates them and I see you also believe that. Seeing that, I guess I will totally believe that now.

  13. Amazing video and thank you for breaking it down!! Despite the economic downturn, I'm so happy I have been earning $ 60,000 returns from my $9,000 investment every 21days.

  14. making money is an action. keeping money is a behaviour, but "growing money is wisdom" i heard this from someone☺

  15. Hope you have a great time in Louisville. I would have loved to come and meet everyone. I just can't drive that far. My daughter has to work. You are the closest YouTube person to me that I know of. I live by West Terre Haute. I have chickens, ducks and geese. I hope to one day get a Palm turkey. They are so pretty.

  16. Yeah definitely check your pH level in the garden, I had raise mine 2.5 points with lime and triple 12

  17. Evan another nice job. It’s good that you have a good helper. Blessings on you guys, and I’ve already ordered Clyde’s gardening guide early. Looking forward to a better growing season.

  18. Fruit trees like a gravel type of soil for good drainage and citrus likes it too. Blessings

  19. Really glad to see how you guys are proceeding with the orchard. I had a chance to volunteer at a organic orchard in Canada couple years ago that had been there for decades ,the 83 year-old man that owned it had pruned all the trees so they could be harvested by hand without getting on a ladder. He had 50 rows of 50 trees each, eight or nine different varieties… was helping harvest some of the apples at the end of the season, pretty Quick and easy to be able to do without getting on a ladder ….thought you might consider that as you trim your orchard at the end of this year. Enjoy the channel ,enjoy you guys working together so well ,,, keep on keeping on….blessings to you and yours
