I appreciate the book recommendations. I love this idea of a what to do this month in the garden. Here in the East Bay Area, I’m waiting for the hairy vetch to come up. Sounds like we should do our dormant spraying. I’ve left one of my vegetable raised beds growing the pollinator flowers I planted last summer. For the last few years I have not seen pollinators in my garden and, of course I have not had good harvests.
Monthlies are a great idea! Counting on you not to forget to cover us still in your old hometown.
Yes!! I love this idea especially since I'm in a climate similar to yours 9b Florida 🥰
Happy Valentine's Day to you, too!
Monthly task video is a great idea. Thanks for the potato reminder. Just revisited your starting tomato seeds video from last year. Can't wait to get started on the tomatoes! I'm 10a so I probably should have started back in January, but life and a visit to SoCal got in the way. We return home tomorrow, so look out Thursday!
I have been watching you since day 1
Yes please! New to gardening,.ordered your book and seed shopping now. Zone 5b here
Yes keep doing this. Very helpful
Yes, I think you should keep doing the monthly tasks videos. I’m not a very good gardener and the reminders really do help keep me on track. Thanks a million! ❤
Winter is definitely when podcasts are non stop at work and on my commute to just gear up for new techniques for the next season….was told a long time ago learn at least 1 thing a day or your day was wasted
Good.format.lots.of knowledge
Great idea. Thanks for reminding me to spray my fruit trees. 🤷🏻♀️
I live in Washington state…should I start some veggie seeds inside now?
Thanks! I'd enjoy the monthly garden tasks videos.
The gal at San Diego Seed Company says it's too late to plant brassicas (even plants) in zones 9 and 10 because the weather will be too warm when they mature and they'll go right to flower. I've experienced this in 9B.
Love this. I was taking notes and can’t wait for each month’s ‘class’.
Thank you. I like this!!
Fantastic idea. Would be so helpful 🙂
Yes! I love this idea!
I love this idea as a brand new gardener I would love some guidance on what to do monthly. Yes your book was my first gardening book and I love it and really recommend it.
Yes I definitely agree the monthly task videos would be super helpful! Multiple times a month I Google what I should be doing in my zone that month or the next to prepare. Your monthly task videos will probably make it easier for me to pinpoint the important things to knock out. Also like the idea of random tips, even in like building little helpful structures in the garden. Can't wait to see the bare root berries!
How big do slips need to be before you cut and root
i like this type of video. also sarah raven also has some nice videos of her in her gardens lovely
I vote yes for the idea of monthly tips. I actually just got your book! Love it!
Man, you really made me want to start planting and sewing seeds, but I’m currently watching snow and near blizzard conditions out my back windows. We have had a LOT of snow this year. I’m not complaining, because our forrest really needs the moisture, but it may be April or May before I see the ground, thankfully I grow mostly in raised beds and containers. So, reading is about the only thing that makes sense for me now. I already have your book, so I appreciate the other recommendations, especially the one for colder climates like mine. ❤
Love the idea! I grew cucumbers and turned them into pickles last year so hoping to do that again!
Thanks! I find it helpful to receive reminders about gardening "to-dos." I was unaware about the sweet potatoes slips needing to be started. I also liked the book recommendations.
Hey I love the concept! It's a bit of a bummer when videos take a while to produce and by the time you find them that bit of the season's past
Hi Brian, I’ve heard short ruin your algorithm for your channel. Do a little research for yourself! Great info as always!
Wow a tropical garden I can’t wait, not really a reality in in zone 5b or c😊
Dude, the monthly task videos are awesome! This is what every gardener could use more of….especially those like me who get so focused on indoor winter tasks that we forget there is an outdoors still (though I dread going out, and being cold and wet).
Came in from the greenhouse earlier to find my husband cooking my chitty potatoes, his face when I admonished him for using the potatoes I've been patiently chitting for the last two weeks was the best thing I've seen all week 😂
Thank you.. helpful!
I’ve always believed that the most important thing a gardener can grow is a journal. So yes, these reminders are great for those of us who don’t keep up a journal lol. This is an exciting time, planning and starting the new season. Celery is first on my list. After only two weeks, they are now germinating..they’re so tiny! Peppers to be started next..
Thanks, you always give us that follow you some good NUGGETS to use!
Bought your companion book a couple weeks ago and have already been through it once. The next pass I will make notes. 📝
Thanks Brian! I got a tremendous amount of info from this video! I hope you continue this in the future. And thanks for the recommendation of reading material.
Great idea! Love it! Agree also, January and February are "dreaming" months! I have a stack of books I am making my way through. 🙂 Your's is one of them! 🙂 Love it! Excited for the coop to be complete and looking forward to the tropical garden! ordering the tropical book now, I'm in SW VA Great video and info, got me motivated! Thank you again! Happy Valentine's Day n hope it was great for you and yours!
Yes.. Keep them Coming !
Happy Valentine's Day to you too !!
Loved this video. The information helps a lot. My ground is very wet now. I hope you will continue giving us information like this.
When I was taking horticulture classes, we used Michael Dirr horticulture books. Very detailed.
The buds have arrived and are already opening up on my fruit trees, I only have a few. And now is starting to get cold again.
I love this! Are you going to discuss when you start seeds?
You always say you are going to leave info below in the video description. I've never been able to find it. All there is is the video title, when it was published, how many views, etc. There must be somewhere else I should be looking. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? Thank you.
I love your book!! I have spots flagged for quick reference. LOVE, Love, love it!
