Backyard Garden Tour! I January 2023

It’s time for my 5th Garden Tour & the first one of 2023! 😃

This is a shorter tour as there’s not much new growing since the last vlog, but i wanted to show the little update anyway! 🙂

First off, excuse the messy backyard, i haven’t cleaned anything since New Years, plus we’ve had a lot of rain & flooding! I’m close to 1000 Subscribers(thank you everyone for 700 subs!) Once i reach 1k Subs & YT partnership, i will be upgrading my backyard! aswell as equipment to better help my filming! 😃🙂

Growing Small Sugar pumpkins for the first time!(and first orange pumpkin!) now they’re ripe and ready for my friend to arrive & carve Halloween pumpkins in March! 😃🎃 They’re so small & cute! 😃 Yes this won’t be during Halloween, Summer literally starts in December in Australia 😂 But i’m just happy & excited for some wholesome activity with my dear friend 🙂

My asparagus is looking real good! They’ve grown more, larger ferns, these will help to produce larger spears next season! Which will be ready to harvest! 🙂

Avocado tree 🥑, unfortunately all the baby fruits fell off 😅 The 5 fruits that remained were false fruits(seeds didn’t grow) plus it also had overwatering issues, but i think i fixed it by drying out the soil a couple of times, now it’s growing lots of new leaves again! 😃

Mango tree 🥭, my seed grown mango is in it’s 5th year, last season i thought i was gonna get a fruit, but it was a false fruit, this season about 10 fruits grew that were actually successfully pollinated! But the plant is only big enough to support 1 😅 now that one fruit has grown so much within the last 2 weeks, i’m very excited to harvest and eat my first ever home grown mango fruit! 😃

Dwarf Banana tree 🍌, It’s grown a lot of new large leaves, the 1st pup is huge now! The leaf size is getting close to being the same size as the mother plant! Unfortunately i killed the 2nd oldest pup, apparently i didn’t dig deep enough and ended up pulling the stem without it’s corm! 😂😅😢 But i still have new pups growing, i won’t make the same mistake this time 😂 Also it should be time for my banana to fruit? hopefully next month a flower appears 🙂

Sweet Potatoes 🍠, My sweet potatoes are growing nicely, i’m using this batch for my upcoming ‘How to Grow Sweet Potatoes!’ video! Which should be ready late March/Mid-May 🙂 I will be showing all 3 varieties(Purple, White & Orange!) Stay tuned!

Other updates, i lost one of my oldest pineapple plants due to overwatering causing root rot, the rest of the pineapples seem to be doing fine for now. My Butternut pumpkin is currently producing it’s 2nd set of fruits which is 3! But after this i will remove it as i’ll need the bed to plant my potatoes for Autumn/early Winter! I had to remove some of my Eggplants & Capsicum due to a vary hosting disease/virus, it’s been a bit of a pain, it mainly effects potatoes, capsicums & dahlias the fastest, then eggplants & sweet potatoes, currently noticing it infecting my small sugar pumpkins 🫤 It also hosts some weeds & grass, i will say me not keeping the garden super clean & also not doing proper rotations have contributed to the spread, i’ll just have to be smart with planting & instantly removing infected plants. It’s a disease/virus that rabidly infects after a rain during the warm season, there’s no signs of it infecting during the middle of Winter however despite a lot of rain, so safe to say it stays dormant during the cool season.
