  1. "A Fish Called Wanda" is another good ROFL movie. Starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline (who is hilarious in it) and some of the Monty Python legends.

  2. The guys from Led Zepplin and Aerosmith found the movie too depressing because it was so truth to their lives and a lot of the sillier things in the movie did happened to them in real life. Including getting lost on thrir way to the stage.

  3. The lady with the "really, really pretty smile" is Fran Drescher, who had a huge t.v. sitcom in the 1990s called The Nanny.

And yes, that IS Harry Shearer.

  4. The term "Big in Japan" probably goes back to a bunch of American groups from the 1970s–specifically Cheap Trick, and to a lesser degree, Blue Oyster Cult–who had HUGE followings in Japan.

  5. Some company (Marshall I think?) made an amp that went to 20. In the ads they had Guest dressed like Nigel posed next to the stack with the tag line It's nine more init.

  6. The guy who plays David St. Hubbins, Michael McKean, is Lenny from Lavern & Shirley, Gorman Seeding (Coneheads), Rugrats, X-Files, and about 50 other shows/movies. It's the long hair that throws everyone off.

  7. If you liked Spinal Tap the same Cast is like a comedy troop that has done other movies such as "Best In Show" a mockumemntry bout dog show culture.

  8. I’m not sure you younglings realized the goldmine you accidentally stepped on with young celebrity cameos… even main cast… ever watch “Better Call Saul?’ look it up!

  9. this movie is a classic. the actors all actually played the instruments/sang. Tap has toured and released albums. many of the situations are from real anecdotes… getting lost in the arena, the multiple dead drummer, etc. so many cameos. love it.

  10. Don't know what the critics were listening to, but Intravenous Di Milo is an awesome album.

  11. BWAHAHAHAHAAA!!!! Now you know where "These go to eleven" comes from!!! The casting in this was phenomenal. All the little cameo's blew the world away. The one that really got me was Patrick MacNee. And I'm surprised neither one of you mentioned Michael Mckean (David St. Hubbins in this) being Lenny of "Lenny and Squiggy" fame from "Laverne and Shirley". Loved your vid. Will be watching more.

  12. Christopher Guest is the ultimate chameleon. He has made millions upon millions crack up and no one can name him. He'd walk right past you on the street you'd never know. He can star in an amazing movie and not get mentioned a single time. It's fascinating. I myself didn't know his name for probably a decade and cracked up at every single character he ever has done. BTW he's british royalty too. google it.

  13. Thanks to this movie, even the BBC iPlayer (Catch up service) has a volume slider that goes up to 11 !! 😀

  14. Having the midgets dance around the miniature Stonehenge to make it look bigger was the clincher for me

  15. Is it true Elon Musk is a huge fan of this movie and wanted the heater fan speeds in Tesla cars to go up to 11?

  16. Apparently many rock musicians such as Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Jerry Cantrell, Dee Snider and Ozzy Osbourne all reported that, like Spinal Tap, they had got lost in confusing arena backstage hallways trying to make their way to the stage.

  17. Wow. I find out from you guys that there is a sequel in the works. The people who made this one are so good the sequel is going to be great. Something to look forward to.

  18. 3 Albums to their credit – and yes, they went out and toured just like they were a real band – many did not get the joke.

  19. These situations are based on real stories. As a gigging musician for over fifty years I can assure you all this stuff happens to all of us all the time!

  20. Nigel was also the six fingered man in the Princess Bride, another classic directed by Reiner.

  21. The cold sore is a joke about all of them having sex with the same groupie, not enough information there but most likely not at the same time but during the same evening..

  22. "Big in Japan". It was and i guess still is to some extent that old "has been" rock bands with some notable hits but whose music was considered stale and outdated to suddenly find a huge following in Japan, South Korea, South America etc. Before internet and global connectivity in the cultural stage, different countries were exposed to music in different rate. All it took was some radio personality to play Status Quo in Japan and suddenly, Status Quo was big in Japan.

That is also one reason why quite many rock bands have Live in Japan: they could sell easily, guarantee a full house no matter if the last album was a hit or not and Japanese audience is amazing. As a bonus, Japanese audio and video/film industries were operating at high standard, maybe even better than USA so you only needed to haul your ass and maybe some stage props overseas and had all of the expensive technical stuff provided by locals.

Now culture moves at light speed… back then you had countries that were decade behind when it comes to western music and movies. For ex, i saw most hollywood movies 6 months to a year after US opening date in the 80s.. and i live in Finland, which was like mini-murica at the time…

  23. You should react to more of Christopher Guest’s mockumentaries. Waiting for Guffman is my favorite, but Best in Show is a close second.

Guest (who played Nigel “Goes to 11”) is married to Jamie Lee Curtis and is an actual British Baron, whose official title is Lord Haden-Guest.

He served in the House of Lords and was one of the members who voted for the House of Lords Act of 1999, removing the rights of hereditary peers like himself from serving.

He was in SNL for a year and also was the six-fingered man in The Princess Bride.
