Re rats, I mixed some bicarb/baking soda 50/50 with peanut butter (it's an effective 'poison' without contaminating nature with chemicals) put some near mich chucks, compost bins, and chuck food storage are, it's all been nibbled at ~2 weeks ago, not seen any sign of them since I caught a young one 5 days ago, think I won this battle until the next lot find the chucks, all the best

U get alot done in such a little time, my onions got hit but got more on the go so will replace them when there ready. So that's good, hopefully no more rats.
Terry l am pleased to hear that you are finally taking steps to combat RATS, they may well help in turning a little of your compost as they hunt for food, but the harm they can cause can be really harmful both there poo and pee contain extremely dangerous chemicals to humans a fact that should be publisised far more than it is.
Seeing your tidy allotment encourages me to go out and do something but you're clearly made of stronger stuff than me!
