Gardening Supplies

Price Shopping Today

I decided to go to Dollarama to check out the gardening supplies, but the shelves are currently stocked for Valentines Day, The Asian Market to pick up more Chicken Carcasses (they were out) but they always have the best selection of vegetables and Walmart specifically to pick up some lard, which I did get. I purchased butter too, it was reasonable for today’s pricing!

  1. I was at Dollar Tree Yesterday, In Hamilton, Ontario, They have their Garden section stocked 🙂

  2. Oh they had some big napa cabbages at that asian market! I love napa cabbage. I love it raw in salads, low fried in olive oil and even steamed with just salt & pepper. The ones we've been getting lately down here have been rather small.

  3. what a blessing to have fresh produce in the middle of winter in Canada! WOW… not that long ago only the mega wealthy could have enjoyed this… btw.. those heads of romaine will grow back real fast if you leave the base intact… this is free enterprise and capitalism at it's finest and sure beats the alternative … socialism..communism… consumers can pressure retailers by only shopping at one or avoiding certain items entirely…

  4. We fell into a REAL bargain recently. One of the Amish stores we shop at now carries eggs! BROWN, farm fresh eggs no less!
$1.50 a dozen! There were lots of people there for eggs, but there was plenty. Got 6 1/2 dozen. (Includes 1-18 pack) I couldn't believe it. God is good – all the time! It's also nice to see that some people aren't gouging the price on something everyone needs, just because they can. Gonna freeze most of these & we'll see what next week brings. Take care Toni. Have a safe weekend! 🙏 🙏🙏

  5. lol first time that I shopped in canada. That is the most produce that I have ever seen in a grocery store. In Canada in Jan, where does that produce come from ? My fla Walmart has barely 1/3 of what you filmed today.

  6. I have never got to "shop" in Canada before😊 I guarantee your cranberry juice is a million times better than Oceanspray ❤

  7. Chinese stores are the most expensive in my area…because of this I don’t visit them too often…greetings from Mississauga!

  8. Thank you Toni. I was comparing your prices to the UK and your meat and egg prices are more expensive. I noticed that your stores have bigger packs, big bottles etc. Our stores have small trays of meat unless it is hot weather. Then it's BBQ time and we all go mad! (Not much sun in the UK!)
It's the same here for shelves full of Valentine stuff AND Easter eggs. Flour, eggs and lemons will creep up now that Shrove Tuesday (21 Feb) gets nearer. They like to cash in on religion I note.
Another thing I notice is that prices go up a fortnight before a Bank Holiday if that helps someone.

  9. I'm wondering what's going on because my local stores are putting eggs on sale for $3 per dozen every couple of weeks. Pork and boneless chicken breasts are on sale at $2/#. Whole chickens are $.99 a pound on sale. The sale prices are often less than 1/2 the regular prices. As a retiree, I have to shop the sales. Good Luck, Rick

  10. NO NO NO!! Our upscale store in Chestnut Hill is a lot cheaper and
the food is wonderful. Did not like this place at all!!

  11. Some things are stupid expensive and some things aren't bad. I haven't been to the stores in a few days but last time I was at wally the TP big packs were 20$. So yours was a good deal, I would have grabbed one. Some of the veg and apples were decent prices. I hope I can find some this week! But canned goods, wow! We are paying for the steel can, not the food in it anymore. Maybe we should be saving all those cans (like our Grandads did), they might be worth something someday!!! 😉

  12. Your fruit prices are half what we pay in manitoba. As well as the chicken…wow. You are fortunate its so cheap there. I'd be stockpiling and canning and freezing as much as I could get if our prices weren't so high.

  13. It was great seeing g your prices Toni and here in the states we don’t have chicken Carcases in our grocery stores to buy ! I just save and use mine to make stock for my recipes! A lot if time I cut the extra fat off the chicken and then add the bones of the chicken pieces with it and freeze it snd boil it up when I’m ready to use it! Some of your prices are higher and some lower so I guess they sorta balance out , I think it has a lot to do with the part of the country you live in !! I live in Ohio and my sister lived in Fl snd most of her prices are cheaper than mine and I know her property taxes are a lot less ! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻

  14. Hi Toni – had a great time shopping with you. Your prices in Ontario stores are definitely cheaper than where I live. Milk at our rural stores is $8 gal, have to go to city to get it at $5. You also have a better selection of both fresh and canned veg than we do.

  15. Some of your prices are way better than what we have. Some are really ridiculous…like bananas. Our WM runs fairly high. I start my buy at a local chain. Then I go to WM to see if I can get some extras. Today, the local chain was sparse on ice cream, of all things! They had 3 flavors of our favorite brand and only 2 cartons of each. Eggs were $3.79 for a half dozen. Between $5 and $8 a dozen for others. I saw my first $17 chicken today. Nope! Thank you for showing and telling what you are seeing. We are seeing similar, too.

  16. Eggs and cream and water are crazy, that's what we got today and it makes me pretty upset. Plus the limits on quantity.

  17. My WM prices here in SW Ontario are almost identical. The Asian market prices are quite similar to Basics and I wish we had an Asian market here for better green veg selection. Chain store veg look like they were dumped off the truck first then kicked around. I pretty much buy only reduced meat and veg now as I can't afford full price stuff. I buy eggs from the Mennonites @ $3/doz. I've stocked up on that sale butter as reg prices are ludicrous. I remember 5 years ago when I stocked up on the Gallo XV on sale @ $3 ea and the Gold cans for about $7.. At Dollarama, they've got Bernardin lids back at $2.50. Told my friend to stock up but I doubt she will. Love her but she's a bit of a sheeple.

  18. I won’t buy BRAGGS A.C.V. Any longer. They cut it with water! Check ing. I order online not cut with water. Much nicer.

  19. Your produce looks so much better than in Wisconsin, and you have way…..more variety. Thanks for the tour.

  20. Australia here, currency wise USA is about on parr with here as prices go, My head explodes every week I go food shopping as I always buy the same items and they are going up by the week, Insane stuff going on. Hi Toni hope all's good in Canada.

  21. That's a big Asian market. Is there a large Asian population in your area? Your potatoes and onions are cheaper than in my area of Ohio. Blessings to all ❤

  22. you were going a bit fast in some places but what I could see was way crazy high. It has to get better right? maybe not

  23. I haven't purchased peanut butter for a bout 3 years now. Peanut powder lasts for 15 years if unopened, and you just mix with water to make peanut butter. It was also cheaper than peanut butter when I purchased mine.

  24. Please don't film so fast – especially what at the meat isle. I almost got sick! Not a benefit to anyone if you move the camera faster than we can see.
