Failure This Year: POTATOES?! An Opportunity to Learn – and It's DAY 22 of Our 31 Days of Giving

Failure This Year: POTATOES?! An Opportunity to Learn – and It’s DAY 22 of Our 31 Days of Giving

Our 22nd giveaway video focuses on some of our potato harvests that failed for us. Even though we did get potatoes from some of our beds, we learned the hard way that some of the areas where we grew potatoes in previous seasons didn’t work as well this year, and we think there were a number of factors in play that created these garden failures.

One of the things we always want to share is where we have failures in addition to our successes. We believe this is important for our community to see because not everything will always grow well in the garden, and it would be unrealistic to only see our gardening successes.

Growing potatoes can be a challenge, and in this video, we will show you some of the ways we will try to improve our results next season. Whether it’s our GreenStalk potato harvest, our compost potato harvest, or others, we know we can overcome these gardening failures.

We hope you enjoy this video!

Today’s Giveaway winner gets to choose any one of the previous giveaway items from the list below!

If you want to take part in the giveaways, comment on this video or one of our community posts from now until the next video comes out.

  1. Congratulations to the winner! Hope whatever you choose works out to be exactly what you needed!

Last year was a rough one for my gardening hopes. My back has issues, and I can't do much on the ground in the beds anymore without faceplanting from the pain. I'm hoping to do raised beds and containers this year so I can be more upright while still growing things. Looking into vertical systems as well.

  2. Congratulations to the winner. Melons last year were a rough one had great harvest of them for the previous 4 years

  3. Congratulations to the winner!
Tough years in the garden for lots of us. Got my seeds started late, seedlings transplanted late, and got a late crop before an early killing freeze. Looking forward to this coming season and hopefully getting it all in the ground at the right time.

  4. Congratulations winner #22. My potatoes failed last year too. Think I left them in the ground too long. Planted 4 in pots the other day so will be transplanting them next month. Zone 8b.

  5. Congratulations to the winner. I have been struggling with growing both carrots & oregano. But I'm not giving up.

  6. I had many failures this past year. Most of it, because I to change some variables, and it was too much. Congratulation to the winner.🎉

  7. I hope my garlic comes through. Planed it in late Oct/early Nov in Zone 7a. Should get a nice crop this late Spring.. Thanks for all of the info.

  8. Congrats BIG winner! How were the peaches off that tree I saw in the background? Mine were huge this past summer.

  9. My garden of 2022 was so much better than my garden of 2021. I had fewer pests and disease, largely due to my improved watering method. Learning from things that have gone wrong is an important part of growing as a gardener.
