Join me in my latest *Seed Haul* of 2023! I’ve purchased LOTS of seeds from MI Gardener (https://migardener.com/) and Baker Creek’s seed sites (https://www.rareseeds.com). Gearing up and preparing for the Spring vegetable garden!

This Spring I plan to further enrich my permaculture garden while incorporating a huge Back To Eden style garden addition. As always, our gardens are *no till* and 100% Organic gardening practices!

  1. I checked and the onion Ailas Craig is a long day onion that will only bulb up in the north part of the country. Along the gulf coast we have to plant short day onions since we have short days in the summer, compared to the north. When the day length is achieved, the onion will begin bulb. I usually start my onion seeds in October and grow them through the winter, and they start bulbing up in mid to late Feb, and are ready to harvest in the spring. I live 50 miles from the gulf, and my best making paste tomato has been Invincible, from Hoss tools. I am trying another variety of paste tomato called Shelby if you are interested. And the banana peppers are one of the most productive sweet pepper, usually making all summer long. Hope your garden does well this year. Each year we learn something about gardening we did not know before.

  2. I love the variety you got! I’ve been eyeing the mushroom basket tomato for a few years now but haven’t tried it – sounds like it will go on the list for next year! I would love to have the space to plant that many tomatoes! I’m excited to see your garden expansion!

  3. Your reviews of the seeds you grew are very helpful and seeing the interesting choices you want to try makes me want to follow you to see your success with them.

  4. Great haul!
We are warm and humid here in Houston as well. I’ll be watching to see what varieties work well for you this year. Happy gardening! 🌱

  5. Try putting your poppy seeds in the fridge for a couple weeks before planting – they need a cold stratification period ❄️ that's why they grow well for me here using the winter sowing method 🌱💕

  6. Peppers love heat and need it to germinate. I used to have issues getting them to germinate too until I started using a heat mat. I pretty much have 100% germination on peppers now 🌱🌶

  7. I grew the Floridade in New Orleans last year and it was the only one that would grow in the unusually dry, hot summer we had last year.
