Homestead Update & Dairy Goat RETENTION Plan- Farm Life VLOG

Spring has sprung ALREADY and it could mean a hard start for the garden this year as well as for our honeybees. We are moving forward with all things homestead though, and the plans for our dairy goat herd are unfolding beautifully!! Thanks so much for being here and doing life with us!

  1. Our chickens have been picking up their egg production as well! And you are very right, something to be very grateful for! Love the light idea for the chickens. We have yet to try any thing like that!

  2. I can't wait to try my Sanaan/Kiko doe on the milk stand, but she won't be bred till October (hopefully). I am just trying to decide if I should breed her back to her Kiko sire, or to my new Kiko/Savanah buck, or see if I can breed her to a Nubian/Kiko buck I know of. It's a tough decision.

  3. Great video as always Heather.. in Ohio a 60 count of eggs is 25 dollars. They used to be under 5 dollars..

  4. Great video! Love going along & hearing your 2023 homestead plans. I'm looking forward to seeing your Mini Lamancha herd! God bless!

  5. When the chickens get older and slow down on their egg production, do you cull them? If you do is their meat still tender and delicious or do they taste differently?

  6. Great information for this future goat milk 🥛 lover. I haven't nailed down what goats breed/breeds I want. Still working on my housing/ milking /goat yard plan. My MySpace user name was hay in your hair:)
