In this video we completely tear apart our $800 74 Dodge Minnie Winnie Winnebago to start our complete remodeling project. This thing has not been camped in since the 90’s and after being parked outside all that time it has been leaking water for so long that the walls, roof, and floors are now rotten. We decided that instead of building it back with just foam we are going to use OSB or plywood instead to add some structure to the body. Our eventual goal is the rebuild the engine, install an overdrive transmission, and after we completely remodel the inside take it on a 5000 mile trip around America that we tried to do last summer in another cheap motorhome that ended up breaking down and we sold it to get back home. Hope you like the video and continue to watch our series of videos of the restoration project.

  1. I hope you consider putting a mini split on instead of the junk roof ac systems offered by dometic and coleman

  2. Hello from Ocala, FL. What a monumental job that's going to be, but you guys just dug right in. I've never seen the guts of a motorhome, and I was a bit surprised at how cheaply they seem to be made. On the other hand, this one is 30 years old. I'm sure it will be more structurally sound when you are done than it was brand new. You handled the carpentry tools like a pro. Maybe you should start a Sleeperdude carpentry channel or home improvement or something. Why not……Looking forward to see how this shapes up. Wife and I think it's great that you plan to finish your cross country trip, since the last one didn't end the way you wanted. I see you guys have been through Ocala several times over the past year. If you ever stop for lunch, well, lunch is on us. Maybe we can catch up with you guys on your next Florida event if it's close. Great video and keep up the good work!

  3. Loving this content as a change of pace! I flinch a bit every time you saw toward your hand… 😬

  4. Interesting project, l like watching your family. Just be careful what your animals are eating. If they get sick you will never know what it was. I want to watch the rest of the build! Good luck on the rest of it!

  7. YIKES!!!!! A total rebuild on a Winnabagel Josh? Never gonna look at those the same way after seeing what you discovered.

  8. Hey Josh about that propane issue, once I took the furnace out of a big park model trailer. I put a bigger water heater in..they are safe because all the propane is outside. Then inside the trailer I put in a school bus heater and a circulating pump, just "T"ed into the hot and cold pipes at the water heater. Reduced my appliances ftom 2 to 1, so less to fix. Heat was fine. Mind you my idea of fine heat will be different than yours because here in Canada it gets 30 below…

  10. Be sure to replace the foam insulation or you will not enjoy the cold and heat and road noise. It's there for a reason. you will need a different liquid nails for foam insulation.

  11. I love your family and the process of working on your projects! Keep doing what you do! I will watch…

  12. Great stuff, I always wanted to do that. Iv built many house boats and the next steps get tougher. Good luck 👍 sincerely.

  13. Josh, I wish you would move that 64 Ford wagon away from the fence and with the other cars. I am afraid it is going to get hit when you do the drives circling the yard. Especially when someone other than you drives because it can be so hard to steer and brake those project cars when they are undergoing brake and steering work.
PS. I really like that wagon. 🙂

  14. When you stick your head through a small opening in a wall or door, you should say "Here's Johnny!"😁

  15. Whah guys thats a beautiful work can't wait to see the finished roof ! Happy birthday by the way 😉

  16. Man my wife and I love your channel. I started watching YouTube for that guy with vice grips but you have become our favorite YouTuber family. Can't wait to see the next video lol

  17. I know I'm probably a day late and a dollar short but I'm curious why you didn't use tile mastic or a similar adhesive out of a bucket with a trowel for the skin?

  18. You might want to check out COPART you might be able to get a slightly damaged camper or RV that you can steal the interior out of????
    Just an idea 💡

  19. Wow that’s a lot of work! Would be way to overwhelming for me lol looking forward to the next video brother

  20. Im having to repair glazing on my old windows for a refinance because the FHA appraiser. I thought of you after looking at this product as it is popular being used to weather seal RV's. Its called "XFasten Butyl Putty Tape " Im sure it costs much more but I think it will last way longer than any caulk from a tube. Let me know your thoughts. Peace! 🙂

  21. So it's not a Winnebago anymore, you removed most of their "coachbuilding". I suggest that when this is finished it will be a Wienerbago

  22. Great video 👍 Mumma got some pry bar action and even squeeze started hacking and Wawa got a bit of shower seal. The fun factor is off the scales 🤣

  23. So many ladybugs I wonder if they’re mostly in your state because I never see that many

  24. I passed on a old motorhome because of rot. Guess I should have done what you are doing. It's going to be really strong and nice.👍🇺🇸
