Using Ladybugs INDOORS for Pest Control – and It’s DAY 19 of our 31 days of giving

Using Ladybugs INDOORS for Pest Control – and It’s DAY 19 of our 31 days of giving

Our 19th gardening giveaway video focuses on the aphids which unceremoniously made their way into our indoor garden, and the ladybugs (ladybirds) and green lacewings we are using to fight them.

In this video we talk about the aphid problem that has reared it’s ugly head and the natural pest control methods we are using to stop the aphids from spreading. We purchased our ladybugs from nature’s good guys, and we know they work as we have had success with ladybugs for the past two seasons. Ladybugs kill aphids!

We also purchased an insect habitat to keep them happy and content. The link to the habitat and today’s prize is listed below.

  1. Yea to the winner!!! This video reminded me that I need to stay diligent on my aphid (and other pest) inspections – even in winter. So easy to get lazy thinking, “Oh, it’s winter. Pests won’t be a problem,” until… too late.

  2. Congrats! I have to be careful with aphids, but I always try to attract ladybugs. Have not figured out how to save them in the refrigerator yet though.

  3. Congratulations to the winner! Ive never had much trouble with aphids until this year. They were very attracted to one of my varieties of lettuce.

  4. I have one lone ladybug in my house that came in with my plants. It sat in the ceiling corner for close to a month so I thought it was dead and then low and behold it moved down and has been nicely working on the aphids that are on my radishes. I could use a few more ladybugs but since I have no way to enclose them and the plants are in my sunroom, I just let the lone one do the best it can. At least I know it's not going anywhere since that's right where the food is.

  5. Ladybugs indoor is new to me. Educational video about ladybugs. Always happy to see them in my garden. Congrats to winner!

  6. Congratulations to the winner. That's a really nice price I hope the winter enjoys it. Am I ever going to win?

  7. Congratulations to the winner I definitely plan on releasing ladybugs this year because of all the aphids I had last year

  8. Ok that was oddly fascinating. I never knew about the lifecycle of the ladybug. I’ve seen that larval stage in my garden and thought it was actually a pest. Good to know!

  9. i use bug clear fruit and veg to kill pests like aphids, its similar to the neem oil based sprays. spray every nook and cranny of the plant, rinse off after 30mins and they're all dead. then repeat a week later incase any managed to hide. much easier and more effective than ladybugs who dont get them all.

  10. I'm definitely going to get some ladybugs for the garden this year and try to keep them around before I get any pests. I have a praying mantis egg case on the back of my house and hopefully will have some of those around, too. Congratulations winner! 😀

  11. Congratulations to the winner! I have lady bugs all around my bathroom window every year. If it's warm enough outside, I'll open the window and let them out. I'd love to see a video of them actually doing their work on the leaves too.

  12. The worst pest I ever brought in were fleas. They infested a neglected house plant with really dry soil, then they infested my cats, carpets, and etc. before I realized we had them. It's amazing how fast they spread, and how difficult it was to get rid of them.
    Great video, and thank you!

  13. Congrats to the winner! I love ladybugs… and I'm excited to see how the lacewings do!

  14. Congratulations to today's winner! I too managed to bring aphids in this fall. I collected some of our normally pesky Asian beetles…They took care of the aphids in short order. Worked way better than the organic sprays.

  15. Congratulations to the winner! I would love to see a follow up video on the ladybugs vs the aphids.

  16. We did this but with praying mantis! We bought an egg and my kids loved watching them hatch and grow so it was kinda a dual purpose I suppose.
