Sugarwood is getting our attention as we renovate and decorate her.

As a quick follow up to my last video, so many thought we did not love Sugarwood and that we wanted to move to another house we looked at. Nothing is furthest from the truth! We love our home and our property and I can’t wait to share more renovating and decorating along with gardening, craft, recipes, and trips around New England.

  1. Linda, so for the beadboard behind the stove, you did an eggshell and then follow up with a semi gloss? Didn't know that you can mix 2 paint finishes? Will that make the beadboard easy to wipe clean the inevitable grease splatters?

  2. I am enjoying these videos that jump around. I think of them like chapters in a book. Sugarwood was fabulous and you are bringing out every attribute and facet of loveliness.I wish I had your eye. I love my home and what we have done to it but I always see the potential. Because of recent storms and outages we will be using our funds to add another Tesla battery and probably a generator . I am excited about this but I would much rather be doing over a bathroom or the kitchen. It would be lots more fun.

  3. I smiled to hear that the Bee wallpaper is going to be considered for the pantry – what a happy thing it would be to start the day with the Bees when you go in to get your coffee 😊

  4. Sugarwood is looking beautiful! I love seeing construction happening…and life around construction is exciting! I know it is messy but all the new happenings are so worth the time!

  5. What beautiful drone footage! How I long for a winter wonderland!❄️ I feel like we are missing out on winter down in MA! Sugarwood is such special place!

  6. Beautiful drone video of your home and surrounding acres of undeveloped land! Love all the renovation work on your home. It is in keeping with the age of the house. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and home with all your viewers.

  7. I absolutely LOVE the drone shots. Whenever I have returned to New England from anywhere else I may have been the beauty of it still affects me deeply. I cannot find the words to express how much I love my home in New England, it literally brings tears to my eyes. My home is modest compared to many but I do love it. It is however the land and the sea that call to me. The old architecture that speaks to my heart. People don’t come to small towns to experience ‘what the future holds’. People most often come to New England to feel the past and a connection to history. The depth of feeling is felt ever so profoundly (please excuse the gushing but I am very emotional about this). I hope the people of influence in the beautiful towns of New England understand that reality and balance what they say they do for locals that may be ‘looking to the future’ without losing what is precious and we already have. We have space, we have air to breathe, we have history, we have architectural beauty (few looming towers of buildings) that is frankly wonderfully simple, elegant and old fashioned.

  8. You need to find someone who can create a painting from those shots of the trees in the sun! So beautiful! Linda, you are so patient and understanding with the timeline of your remodel. I’d like to remodel my kitchen but I’m afraid it would bring out the worst in me! 😅

  9. Totally agree with 'marylong8780's" comment! My breath caught in my throat when I saw those glowing peach coloured scenes! So wonderful and amazing that you were able to capture those surreal moments on film before the lighting changed! Lots of progress being made on your home. I really enjoy watching the renovation process, although at 72, I'm very glad I don't have to cope with the daily disarray! It will be worth every minute when it's completed, and I guess you've done it all before, so you know what to expect! Looking forward to your next post. ☺ ~~M~~

  10. Wish you could do both houses! 😅 I’d be disappointed if you didn’t finish Sugarwood though, so happy you are staying. Is the color in the pantry the Rockport Gray? I love it! And everything you do. You’re so talented ❤

  11. Could you supply the link for the beadboard backsplash tile? I would love to use it in my kitchen, and I suspect other of your "kindred spirits" would as well.

  12. Absolutely beautiful video of the morning with the fresh snow on the trees that looked golden. Never have I seen that before. I’d love a picture painted of the trees. Can’t wait to see the finished Sugarwood. Enjoy every minute you spend living this old home. It will give back to you many comforting days of enjoyment .

  13. I love the snow. I'm in Va. We've been known to have snow occasionally, and heavy storms, once in awhile. I do love a good snow and it looks especially beautiful on Sugar Wood!

  14. We have had the most beautiful winter here in Minnesota in years! Lots of frost on the trees like you have. Thanks for sharing!

  15. I’m planning on having bead board installed around my back splash and was wondering if you are going to put a sealer over your paint in the area behind the stove? I like the look but I want it to be safe and easy to keep clean. I’m so looking forward to seeing the finished kitchen. 🥰

  16. Thank goodness Sugarwood is your passion…its become ours too thru your wonderful videos!!!

  17. The wood beadboard behind the stove will get greasy and turn yellow from the cooking on the stove and in it's oven. Beadboard tile would be easier to maintain over time.

  18. sorry < I don't k now how to reply on the email to you.. . The door looks as if when it is open it blocks the room .. . Maybe the room is wider then it looks.. If it pleases you I know you are like me you would change.. I will keep quiet until you finish , I promise…. I am watching you all Ha Ha…

  19. Linda, you are so easy to listen to and watch! Thank you for taking so many of us along! ❤️❤️
