Hey Friends! The best decision I ever made was planting a garden. Talk about life changing. A Garden can provide many things: A retreat, peaceful in its stillness, rich in beauty, therapy
for the mind and body. A provision of organic, nutrient dense food, unblemished by chemicals and pesticides. Food security that will provide nourishment for months to come in its preservation. A means to save money and an outlet for connecting as a family, learning and working together. Whatever your goal for starting a garden, I want to help and encourage you on that journey. There is so much information out there and that can be overwhelming, and I don’t want that to deter you. In the video I will provide the “need to knows” and lay out the building blocks to ensure a successful garden moving you forward to your goal, one step at a time, one seed at a time.
Thank you for watching!!
Kelsey

This is great. I will show my husband this video later to start our seeds. Here in Ontario, Canada our last frost date is supposed to be May 12 I think. We are in zone 7 I believe. We have a townhouse, so we have a small backyard. We do have two raised beds and we have lived in this house for 12 years, and we get a pretty good crop every year. We have herbs that come back every year. We still have seeds from last year.

Your garden will be so beautiful this year. I always get a tad envious when I see such beautiful garden plots…but our garden works well for our needs. It's a roughly 70 ft by 200 ft row type garden. It's how both hubby and I were raised, in our mennonite backgrounds. In 2021 we tilled up a grass horse pasture, and have added aged horse manure each fall, and it's produced amazingly, beyond our wildest dreams. The soil is an absolutely perfect sandy loam combination. I'm very grateful to God for our garden space. But still a bit envious of pretty garden spaces with trellises and raised beds. 😀
I'm finally having my 1st garden this year! Thank you for this content. It's very helpful!
The last two seasons I grew my garden in my tiny apartment back yard. It was completely surrounded by old growth trees. I removed little trees around the perimeter but the plants in the sunniest spot got MAYBE two hours of full sun per day. I was happy to do it because I was desperate for a garden, but it’s a little discouraging to grow three cucumber plants and get two cucumbers. But I bought my first house in the fall and I already have four 4×16 raised beds in the sunniest spot! I’m so excited to find out how many cucumbers I’ll get!!
It’s an exciting time of year as we all plan this years garden. Loved your drawing by the way.
Nice to follow a fellow person from PA. this will be my 2nd year doing a garden in PA, last year didnt do so great because i got started far too late in the season. and that clay soil hahah we have that too. the nice thing is we have an underground spring nearby so the soil is at least normally moist so we didnt have to water much, this year we are going to add raised beds to our rental property we are renting. Right now i have found determining when to start seeds indoors so i can get an early start this year is rough. i am not originally from PA so im still learning what the weather is like but its rough especially because everything in the news + what has been going on weather-wise so far has shown this year is unseasonably warm this winter. Would love to see a video possibly of when you typically start your specific seeds indoors/outdoors to get a good baseline for our region 🙂
Yay!! Can't wait! Thank you so much for sharing.
