  2. My 2 blueberry tomato plants I grew from seed (started indoors) are outside in 15lb. smart bags under our wooden canopy on the patio. They're flowering now. Long Beach ⛱️ Cali 10b

  3. Definitely going to be growing more of my own groceries this year!!! Looking forward to this series. If anyone knows where to get some cheap potting soil in California, leave a comment, cause California never seems to put soil on sale, even in the winter 😂. Thank you Kim 💕

  4. Got my onions planted and 4 of your tomato seeds from the collection! I have never heard of Ace 55, but they are in the pots! 😊

  5. Way too early to start tomatoes here. Won’t be doing that till mid March. I know I’ll be growing some chefs choice, beef streak, grape, red cherry, chocolate sprinkles, Roma, and golden jubilee and I’m sure others. Are there any you can’t go without? I’ll try them!

  6. @CaliKim29 Garden&Home DIY my parents won't let me grow food inside the home and i live in the high desert ca. So what can I grow now outside I'm in zone 8b and 9a i would love to grow food this month with but i can inside.

  7. Another great video. Thank CaliKim!
Yes, the timing is crucial. I think here in eastern Ontario where the last frost date is usually May 9 (but last year we had a June 6 frost) so I will target 7 weeks prior to then.
Been following for years, and it is amazing.

  8. How are you fairing in the storms? Have they stopped now?

We still have terential rain here but less stressed now our waste blockage from next door has been sorted. The thought of not being able to plant somewhere for 12 months after, left me in despair!

So glad that re furbished the patio for free drainage too. The old "crazy paving" that was cemented in wouldn't have coped with the wet weather's, we have had over the recent years and would have certainly pushed that nastiness into the garden.

We also live near a brook that leads to the Thames, so classed as a flood risk area.

I find the "last frost date" hard for us as we have a short window of that. I think out main issue is wind and rain.

We used the Crazy paving slabs to build our main bed and expanded with the new neighbours giving us some slabs too.

I think the whole "last frost date" is out of sync as last year, everything was a month early here, because of the drought.

My only takeaway is what i learnt. As for seed starting, def doing in stages this year.

Also going to cull my sprout plants. They are ok but im seeing baby snails.

  9. Just planted bunching onions peas. I planted onions, carrots and garlic in November. Garlic and carrots are looking good but onions are still very stringy. They are in a smart pot outside. Any advice on the onions please?

  10. I love the seed tray sizes that you have, they're a perfect size! When I get back Ireland, it's time to plant those tomatoes 🍅 😍
