The drummer needs to shorten the intervals between the two hits as he speeds up. It's awkward as hell when the space between the two beats themselves is about the same as the space between the resulting crowd clap. The point is that we're supposed to speed up until the clarity of it all breaks down and becomes a chaotic cheer.
It got a little better after the first year but they keep fucking it up every time. It could be actually fun instead of awkward.
