Synopsis : On the banks of the holy River Ganga, Gopi, a ferryman conducts an unconsummated romance with Radha, a girl from the upper classes. At the same time, he rejects the advances of Gauri, a girl from his own village, who is attracting the unwanted attention of Radha’s lecherous uncle. Fate is not kind to them. Radha is married off to a man she doesn’t care for and Gopi is severely beaten by thugs sent by Radha’s uncle after he prevents him from molesting Gauri. Radha’s husband dies suddenly and she returns home in disgrace to find her father is dangerously ill. However, the attraction between Radha and Gopi remains as strong as ever and ugly rumours start to circulate about the nature of their relationship – for which Gopi blames the jealous Gauri. Emotions come to the boil and tragedy results. Fortunately, for all concerned, another birth awaits them.

    This film is a remake of all time super duper hit Telugu movie MOOGA MANASULU, of 1964. A. Nageshwer Rao, Savithri, Jamuna have played the lead roles in this master- piece. Songs and dialogues are very popular even after 75 years. Its Hindi version Milan also was a big hit.

    Saw this movie at the theatre on a 1968 summer vacation with my younger brother to our uncle & aunt's home in Glasgow, Scotland! I was just 12 years old yet remember confronting our elder hosts on the impossibility of reincarnation! The plain roti & green chilli scene has been permanently etched in my memory watching it again after so many decades was a real treat! I identified with Gauri, a stellar performance by Jamuna! Milan is a remake of a 1964 Telugu original? How about that? One learns something new every day! The songs are truly classic I still have it's vinyl LP in my collection of that period! Slightly sad caste is still very much the most divisive issue in today's India of the space age!!

    बहुत अच्छी फिल्म जिसमे उत्कृष्ट अभिनय सुनील दत्त जी व नूतन जी का और गीत ऐसे लिखे गए जिनका कोई मतलब होता था, मुकेश जी व लता मंगेशकर के गाने गीत, संगीत की दृष्टि से भी बहुत अच्छी मूवी है Really old is gold
