Mill Ruins and river wading. Mudlarking and re-exploration.

Wading in the river by the ruins of a mill, and under bridges. It’s a spot I’ve been to before; I went back to see any changes, find anything interesting, and have a nice relaxing time in the river. I didn’t find much, but it was a nice day for it regardless.

  1. Tom, thank you again for the lovely video. Looking at these rivers, I don't remember seeing turtles and it looks like a perfect place for them….do you not have turtles/terrapins there?

  2. I enjoyed seeing the sunshine and as always the beautiful rivers and streams. I think the little fish may be a Bullhead and appropriately for this video known as Millers thumb. I am intrigued to see what your collection of blue and white pottery will become. Thank you Tom, take care.

  3. There were some moments in time where the reflections in the river were lovely. You could just get lost in the movement of the colors shinning on the water's surface. 🥰🐕🇺🇸

  4. Happy New Year Tom. Another wonderful and relaxing video. The scenery and sounds of the water 👌🥰 thank you for taking us along with you 😊

  5. Still a beautiful place to go for a wander, a few nice things found and thank you for caring enough to pick up litter too . Take care and thank you for sharing your walk, very enjoyable..👍🙏❤️

  6. Lovely video Tom, so nice to see the greenery and sunshine. I hope we get another good summer this year. 🌞😁💗 x

  7. Lovely location – the lamp is a lovely find.I keep finding bits of broken blue & white pottery on my land.

  8. Another lovely walk along the water is so very soothing, even if you don't find valuable relics, considering eye of the beholder and all that. Amazing to me is how the early industrializations stand silent of their own accord, being torn down by only roots and ivy.
I often wonder how you keep track of all the projects you have in store; how you compartmentalize them without going mad (although I hear the best people are.)
Seems lately details/projects I once called up at a moment's notice, are becoming overwhelming to just think about.
    There's a secret to it, I know…and you have conquered it.👍🏻

  9. HelloTom, Happy New Year and Thank you so much for posting another interesting video ! Jane from Wellingborough Northamptonshire x

  10. Because they were broken, they look different, but those insulators are all standard number 1 style ones. They are the shippams pot of the insulator world basically, so I wouldn't mourn them either unless they had odd markings. The smaller version of that style called a "queens" pattern is nicer. I have covid currently which is awful, but your videos are always soothing. If I ever get to Yorkshire, I'll help you lug some mill carts out. I like that flotation chamber too. That "brazing torch would make a good Star Wars blaster!

  11. Tom,
Almost everything you show has the patina of time and
    is begging to be shown.
    Another wonderful Zen video.
    Cheers,
    Rik
    Still breathing:)

  12. Happy new year Tom and Yorkshire is the only place I call home see you on the next one 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

  13. Totally enjoyed your stream wade ,lovely to see green as we are very very snow covered.
Your finds may not be plentiful but they are interesting .

  14. Did you use a new piece of music in the background of this video? There was a piece I didn't recognize.

It's a lovely river for wading. Too bad it wasn't more full of finds for you.

  15. How I love to walk with you along the rivers and towns. thanks for sharing your wonderful home with us in Canada and around the world. I look forward to your videos so very much. Thanks Tom

  16. Your countryside is so lush and beautiful! I’m not much of a traveler, but it makes me want to visit there. Hope this finds you well! ✌🏼❤️

  17. It might take a bit of effort, but if you really wanted the mill trolly cart, you could tie a rope to it and drag it up to the top of the embankment. And perhaps a large wagon or wheelbarrow could help move it to the car. Would be neate to see you restore it, though.

  18. Happy New Year and many salutations Tom another soothing video. That ceramic insulator was a wonderful find I’m sorry you lost it bet it was what I call a oh doy moment.😮 hate it I’m sure you’ll find another some other time. Interesting pieces of old machine everything is as made so solid back in the past. Time and slow moving currents haven’t completely deteriorated the metal. I to live the flashes of lights and ripples in water. I used to I’ve near the river and loved to watch the flashes of light on the little minnows as they passed by. I had a neighbor with a domestic duck and a wild mallard bred with it and their babies loved to go floating downstream. They looked very strange intend. I’m sorry the invasive plants have taken over your UK waterways. I think in another you said our crayfish had somehow invaded there too somehow. We call them crawdads here. Be glad y’all don’t have kudzu that stuff just takes over everything .

  19. Soothing adventures. Thank you. Your voice, particularly a lullaby at times.

  20. Nice video. I like the reflections on the water. And was there a new melody? It's one I missed if it's not new. Happy New Year, in good health, filled with joy and discoveries!

  21. Best thing that happened all day! Sometimes I take screenshots of the water reflections. They make beautiful abstract screensavers. Hope that isn't theft!

  22. I was going to say it looked like you had the components to make a steampunk lamp with the insulator as a base, the brass heater part as a stem, and the brass car part float as the shade for the bulb. Darn, too bad the insulator got dropped but stuff happens. It would have been neat to be able to make a lamp from the items all found from the same trip. Typing this as I am watching the video so maybe you will find another insulator farther down the stream.

  23. Watching Another lovely summer meander up the river ; what could be more perfect for a winters day.

  24. I so enjoy these videos! Your kind demeanor, knowledge about so much, and willingness to take us along is wonderful. I especially love when we see old structures as here in the US, an "old" structure is typically only 100-200 years old. It's interesting to "see" things through your eyes & much nicer than a simple photograph. Thank you for our adventures & I hope you have a terrific 2023!

  25. Your metals knowledge and experience with salvaging and forging has really expanded. Fun video Tom thank you!
