January Cottage Garden – Hellebores, Pruning Roses & Winter Flowers Tour

Happy new year and welcome back to our cottage garden. Just a quick tour for you today while our plants are mostly dormant. We are building up a supply of hellebores and snowdrops around the garden to build some Winter interest. These have only just started flowering – stay tuned to see more of those next month. I’m also pruning my roses now, so I’ll show you how I’m doing that. Thanks for watching!

  1. I have always been so envious of the UK’s climate in Winter. When I lived in Scotland for a year it was amazing to see all the flowers in February. I live in what feels like an arctic tundra 😂. We don’t see things grow here until April. I am itching to get back to gardening. Hellebores are on my list to add to my garden this year. I love them as well. The pruning tips were great!

  2. Love your garden updates, we have the same climate here in Ireland. 🙂
I did not know the old leaves were good for the soil.. .I always clean them from my flower beds now I feel so stupid!! :O

  3. Part of me is jealous of you for already having things flowering in the garden and another part is so happy that I don't have to do any weeding or pruning yet 😅

  4. You garden is alittle further along than ours here in NW Wales. It's making me so excited for our bulbs in afew weeks. One thing we do have in flower here at the moment is witch hazel which smells amazing! Happy New Year

  5. Happy New Year, all the very best to you both. Lovely to see you in your garden,so interesting. I also have been gardening recently,& pruning & tidying up,& checking around the garden, on a sunny day..

  6. I enjoy your channel so much. The photography is outstanding and enjoy your approach. I need to plant more bulbs! So love the snowdrops!!!

  7. Mona you are so good at presenting! We love your videos, we could watch for hours – Thank you for sharing.

I now really want some hellebores, never had those before. Such a beautiful pop of colour in Winter!

  8. I really like that you show us things in the state they are, unweeded or untidied. That’s what gardens actually look like when you are doing all the work and don’t have staff. It doesn’t detract from them, I think, you can still tell that each part of the garden has been touched with love.

  9. Such a beautiful video lovely, makes me so excited for spring/summer! Thanks for the tips on pruning the roses, definitely going to take that onboard! ❤️
