๐Ÿ”ท ABOUT US ๐Ÿ”ท
We’re a DIY family building our “forever homestead” from 15 acres of raw undeveloped land in Tennessee. All of our content is family friendly and safe for everyone to enjoy.

In today’s video we rent a ride on trencher or Ditch Witch model RT45 to dig a 300 foot long trench in our yard to run power lines to our outbuildings. We are running full high voltage lines to our storage building, soap shed, and workshop. Today we dig a trench and lay the wire into the ground. The wiring we are using is called Black Stranded Mobile Home Feeder wire. It is an stranded aluminum wire suited for direct bury and made up of four wires being 2-2-2-4 gauge. Made by Southwire, Model # 28712801, Voltage Rating: 600, USE Wire Type, 4 Conductors, UL Safety LIsted, RoHs Compliant, Stranded Aluminum Wire.

  1. Happy New Year!! Boy howdy!! Wasn't that a great meal of black eyed peas, cabbage, hog jaws and cornbread!? I love this meal and just now wondered why I only have it New Years Day!๐Ÿค” Lol! Hope y'all have a wonderful year and so happy to see y'all again!

  2. I watched yโ€™allโ€™s travails with the waterline from the road as you dug through the clay and rocks. That top foot or so of soil, though, is really nice ground. If yโ€™all ever have a chance to plant a garden, it should do well.

  3. Thanks for another great time with you all. Sam, you have the best helper there is . One reason is that she is NOT lazy, and she cares for this homestead as much as you do. In a few years, both of your boys will be rolling up their sleeves and putting in the work too and probably loving it. I really don't understand why your number of subscribers aren't way up there?? It's free to us, helps your channel a lot,and it's one of the best DIY channels out there, and it's a great family time.
See you all on your next time. From Central Oklahoma

  4. Wow. Now youโ€™re taking me back a few years. 1986-1991 I was in the US Air Force. I did communications installation and did a lot of trenching with a Ditch Witch. Thank you for the ride down memory lane. You have good dirt in that section of the property.
