When viewers find out about the genre of fake propagation videos, their first question is often: why? Why bother? Wouldn’t it be almost as easy to use real cutting of seeding techniques? And how do they get away with it?
These questions were the main response to my recent video where I exposed some of the most common fakes: https://youtu.be/JCMknp5XsbY
In this video, I’ll go through and answer some of the most common question, and along the way, I’ll show you a few more fakes that will make you shake your head!
I’ve used videos and thumbnails from some of the “usual suspects” and I’ll be happy to defend the fair use of those clips for the purposes of criticism.

I can confirm that the “do not recommend channel“ button or even “not interested“ button for that matter does not work, because after a certain amount of time YT will still try to wiggle in the same garbage channels and garbage topics despite me clearly saying NO.
Could you please check out the Meo vat Cuoc song ? They make lots of videos.
Thank you for making these debunking videos, I started seeing more of those fake propagation vids recently, I realised they were fake but I did find it bizarre that they put in so much time, effort and quite frankly creativity to make those videos.
I guess it makes sense that those videos really work as magic shows where purposefully outlandish methods are used to capture attention.
I also blame YouTube itself for promoting misinformation by disallowing downvotes, back in the days you can quickly gauge the quality of the video by the dislike ratio but now everything is purposefully obscured allowing these scam vids to flourish.
I even saw a guy growing leek in a yogurt pot …
There are tons of fraudulent videos on YouTube. Recently there have been some people that glue barnacles all over fresh water turtles then start digging the barnacles off as though they are a turtle rescue. They get money from people for doing this abusive thing to the turtles. It is amazing how much money people give to YouTubers.
There are hack videos all over the place and I consider these fake propagation videos much the same. People interested in gardening, but have little experience come to YouTube for information from experts. Most of these hacks are not “experts” and few of them even identify themselves.
Awesome do more like this you are getting more views this way . This is your in on you tube . I'm happy your getting more views you deserve it wayy more than the fakers . Stick with the big FAKE banner in different variances .
More of this ✋🏼✋🏽✋🏼✋🏽 sad to say . I haven't seen any that are not .
Of course the one that gave me a good laugh was the hibiscus leaf cuttings. If you ever rooted hibiscus you would know the roots are like glass and break if you look at them wrong, you do not just pull them like weeds out of the rooting media.
As for the anthurium, I thought they were going to do a new plant thing. The Dutch do use young leaves to start tissue culture propagation, but this a lab procedure that isn't going to happen under a bucket. Just to get a little thing straight the thing that most people call a flower is the bract a modified leaf. The flowers are born on a structure called the spadix that has male and female flowers it. The whole thing is called an inflorescence .That said while growing them you might get a leaf that thinks it might want to be be a bract and show color. This only happens on new leaves once in a while but in no case will a leaf turn into bract like in the video.
Congratulation ! Merci. 👍
👏👏👏👏
WHY do these schmucks go to this much of trouble?
Some idiots think we are stupid
Yes, these are pure SUPER GLUE TRICKS. Because no one stop them and it's easy to fool us, now more and more clips similar to those come out. We definitely need to do something…
Thank you! Once we know we când avoid them ❤! Happy Holidays!
Greetings from Nepal
I salute your keen observation and effort to make a critique. it saved our time. It's high time to do something against those fellows who operates these channels.
I knew it was too good to be true when I saw a few of the videos from those gardening channels.
Picking out decent videos on You Tube can be frustrating. There seem to be more and more fakes in gardening, food and cooking etc. Pretty much anything that proclaims to be unbelievable, never seen before and amazing is either deliberately false or uninformed.
Then weed out the ones of people who haven't a clue what they are doing but are busy showing you how to do something anyway. Often starting out with, this is the first time I've done this. So why are they trying to teach???!
Fortunately there are legitimate, knowledgeable people sharing their experience and information, but one can not assume just because there is a video that anything in it is true!
People seem to have forgotten that actual published books are sent out for review by people knowledgeable in the subject. NOTHING on the internet is reviewed like that. Paying attention to the source of internet information is crucial.
You Tube has some problems when they yank videos that show actual farm animals propagating but allow videos showing impossible ways to propagate plants.
They just want the money from YouTube!😡
Maybe I should fake a video of me sending seeds to space and planting them and use some paint and food coloring and crap to make the plants look weird.
Of course, I can't do that. Seems so wrong.
Why would they do it? Maybe it's a war against competence, so that people can't find out how to really grow roses on their own, so that they are forced to buy them from oligopoly suppliers, instead of getting them for free at home. The more people fail, the more they are forced to spend money to get roses at all. Spread disinformation, make it impossible to find good information, drown out the good information, and make profits for the sellers.
All we can do is share this information and report those fake videos.
Northing else is in our hand.
Thank you very much for sharing, greetings from Indonesia
Thank you for taking the time to dispute these prop methods. I appreciate all that you do for the Rose Community Jason.
The thing that baffles me is why on earth would an individual want to purposely present themselves as frauds with something like this that can't possibly work in the first place.
lol Most of those channels seem to breed in India, judging by their hands )) So, it can be the first hint…
By the way, are you propagating that apple in the yogurt while making the video? 🤣
On a serious note, what we can do is watch the reliable channels, subscribe to those, comment and like their videos, so youtube algorithm recommends those channels to more people, thus pushing back the fake channels.
I’m a master Gardener I never know that kind of Technique, never study never tried.
I actually found some cuttings today that absolutely have to be from an heirloom Rose that's at least 75 years old. I am currently sterilizing my rooting medium. Leave no chances 😂
Just when you brought up the discussion of fake info video, YouTube recommended another 'fake" garden tip to me. Thumbed down immediately, I wonder if it does anything at all ???😮💨🤔
Hi Jason, Is this legit? the truck is alleged to be rosa cymosa

Well done for having the courage to speak out about this and name & shame. You're doing such an important job. Thanks Jason.
Grazie, non ho nessuna esperienza con le rose e quei video mi stavano affascinando! Non li aprirò mai più. 😊
Thanks so much! I knew these videos were fake, but watched a few because I was curious about how they did it – why they did it I had no idea, but now I know. You have to admire their ingenuity!!! 😂
There are videos where they cut an amaryllis bulb into 6 pieces and plant them. They then grow into many bulbs. Is this true or another fake?
I report few of those channels for misleading and False information
By the way i commented that this is fake and false and my comments are still there.
All of the fakers are asians, coincidence?Don’t think so
