Propagated Basil Needs a NEW Home‼️ #shorts #gardening #trending

Basil is a popular herb that is easy to grow indoors in a sunny windowsill or under grow lights. Here are the steps to follow to grow basil indoors:

1. Choose a pot that is at least 6 inches in diameter and has good drainage. Basil prefers a well-draining soil mix, so you can use a commercial potting mix or mix your own using equal parts perlite, peat moss, and vermiculite.

2. Water the soil thoroughly before planting. Basil seeds are small, so it’s best to sprinkle them on the surface of the soil and then gently press them down with your fingers.

3. Place the pot in a sunny location. Basil needs plenty of sunlight to grow, so choose a spot that gets at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. If you don’t have a sunny spot, you can use grow lights to provide the necessary light.

4. Water the seeds regularly, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. Basil seeds will germinate in about a week, and the seedlings will appear in about two weeks.

5. Once the seedlings have several true leaves, you can thin them out by snipping off the weaker seedlings with scissors. Leave the strongest seedlings to grow.

6. Fertilize the basil plants every two weeks with a balanced water-soluble fertilizer.

7. As the basil grows, pinch off the tops of the stems to encourage bushier growth.

8. Harvest the basil leaves as needed by snipping them off with scissors. Be sure to leave enough leaves on the plant to keep it healthy.

With proper care, your basil plants should thrive and provide you with fresh leaves to use in your cooking. Enjoy!
