Dehydrated citrus powder using the peels of my homegrown Calamansi

One of the things I love about gardening is finding ways to be creative with my harvests. I have so many citrus peels from my Calamansi/Calamondin tree and since I know that they’re 100% organic, I figured that preserving the peels by turning them into powder would be a great idea. 🍋

There are so many fun ways to use your citrus powder. You can use them in baking, glaze, add in yogurt, salad dressing, seasoning, tea, dips, sauce, drinks, and more!

If they’re not homegrown, you can save your citrus peels if you were originally planning on only using the juice part, but I would definitely make sure that they’re organic, otherwise you’d be preserving all the chemicals along with your peels.

Here’s how I made my citrus powder:

🍋I washed my fruits well.
🍋I spread the peels on my dehydrator trays in an even layer. The rinds should be in a single layer and not overlapping.
🍋I dehydrated them at 115° for about 5 hours. The time will vary depending on how much you’re drying and the thickness of your peels. You know they’re done when they crack easily when snapped in half.
🍋Grind until fine and store in an airtight container .
🍋If they’re completely dry before grinding them, they can be stored for a year or longer!

Have your ever had powdered citrus peels before? If so, let me know how you like to use them.
