Backyard Garden Update May 07, 2017



In this update we look at how our young sugar apple trees our doing. A look at our replacement ‘Sharp Blue’ lowchill blueberry plant, and other highlights.

  1. My first set of okra failed too. This time I planted them in a different area in a container and shaded them. The leaf chewers got at them at first, but now it seems they are big enough to withstand the bugs. I tried okra twice last year too, but failed because I couldn't outpace super-aggressive ants farming aphids on the plants.

  2. Everything in your garden looks great. All the plants seem to be thriving. Naughty little birds, the birds around me love cucumber seedlings, I learned that last year the hard way. 😊

  3. Hey Brain, things are really well. The first patch of corn is getting bigger and looks really healthy. Ha ha funny how much you and the birds have in common with the squash and zucchini.. T

  4. Those sunflowers are beautiful!! That radicchio is gorgeous!! I think I might want to try growing that next year…Everything is looking so nice!! Great update!!
