Backyard Garden

An Update on the Backyard Ecological Landscape: November, 2018

I went back to Orange, CA to visit the site of the backyard ecological landscape I installed this past spring, and was very fortunate to be there during a heavy downpour. It is always a good idea to observe your sit during heavy rains so you can see how the water flows in real time, this will often expose problems or surprises that you didn’t foresee when you created the design. I was able to see that this design is working quite well, and because i was present during a heavy rainfall, I was able to witness what the rainwater harvesting system looks like when it is full, and confirm that the overflow spillway is functioning properly. Nearly all of the plants that were installed in the spring are still healthy, and have filled in the empty spaces quite nicely. Overall, I am very happy with how this landscape is functioning.

  1. That is so beautiful, such a wonderful job done. If I were over in western USA I'd certainly want you to design my garden! Love the little 'paddling pool' – surely there's a toddler with some wellies nearby?
