Balcony Gardening: Amazing Growth In First Weeks Of My Container Garden!

Week 3 balcony container garden update!
Welcome to my tiny apartment patio! I’m excited to show you the updates of my edible herb and vegetable garden! My patio is east & south facing, so it gets plenty of light, which is perfect to grow many types of vegetables. The first plant I have in my vertical garden pocket is called Lamb’s Ear, which thrives under full sun. The seeds I sowed 3 weeks ago were cucumber, little finger carrots, stevia, lemon balm, corn, and cat grass. It’s my first time germinating seeds, so I’m really happy with how everything turned out! Stay tuned and I’ll update you guys with more progress very soon!

  1. I've never personally grown leafy greens but I remember hearing on, I think, an NPR story one time, that to avoid bitterness, you should harvest leafy greens in the morning. Some biological or physiological plant reaction that has to do with time of day.

  2. I wouldn’t transfer your carrots. They’re gonna be fine how they are! If you keep moving them they won’t grow straight. Carrots don’t usually respond well to transfer. That’s why you usually don’t find them prestarted like you’d find peppers.

  3. Holy cow way to high up for me , Otherwise that is a super cool balcony , Will be cool to see how the food comes out in a few months when you harvest
    Great job take care

  4. I can't get over how big they've gotten. Everything looks wonderful. You did a great job! I'd like to try again, but I have that dreaded disease called "squirrels."

  5. I love food gardening right now. We can see the growth of plants faster than the houseplants. O, my lemon balm is a slow grower too.
