What is Cold Stratification – Monarchs & Milkweed | Big City Gardener | Starting Milkweed Seeds For Monarchs
In this video, I discuss What cold stratification process and demonstrate it using milkweed seeds.

When people think about starting seeds they often think they need warm and moist conditions to get the job done. This is not always the case. You exposed the seeds to cold temperatures in order to activate the seed. This cold tells the seed to “sit tight, either ins almost over. After exposing the seed to cold temperature when exposed to normal seed starting conditions 70-80F and high humidity levels, the seed will start.
