Praying for all of you in the south that you & your plants won’t freeze 🙏 I’m in PA & I’m not impressed with what’s coming here, but I think it’s harder for anyone who’s not as used to it 🥶

Your ginger is so beautiful 🤩 I dream of having a high tunnel to grow plants I cannot normally grow here in the Ozarks.
Try putting plastic or tarp first and blanket over that. I’ve been told to do that order by avid gardeners.
We are hurrying to get into our cabin before the cold and look forward to wood heat once again. Stay warm too and God bless. ❤️🙏 Linda
Can you put heat in your high tunnel. Can use Christmas lights (small ones) not Led, with tomatoes for added heat. Moisture could be problem under tarp, moisture could freeze, bed sheet under tarp.

Hey Wanda! I'm so jealous! ☺️. I am trying to get power to my new workshop and plan to come off the side with a greenhouse. When I look at what you have going on in your greenhouse it makes me excited and inspired all over again. Its so hard to get anybody to do small jobs around here! But, I'm not giving up!! Thank you for the motivation! I needed it!

Ms Wanda, I watched a video where a man put non-LED Christmas lights around his plants and covered them with frost blankets. I wonder if that would keep your tomatoes from freezing. I hope that tip might help you save some of your frost tender plants through this freeze. We are supposed to get down to the negative 20's wind chill here. Also, those red cabbages look amazing! They are one of my favorite snacks.

Just put an propane heater in the greenhouse for those 3 cold days a year. On propan bottle with a 4kwh heater will last you a least 60h on full power. It’s much more cost efficient then letting everthing die or buying a blanket. Also a blanket doesn’t produce any heat. In fact if it is to long cold without sun, plant under a blanket will be more hit by the cold then plants without protection. Because the blanket will make an extra cooling effect due to evaporation,
We are in tennessee and we are going to test our plants in the high tunnel also.
Danny, Run a secondary plastic wall in both green houses in the winter. An interior one. That air pocket between the layers will perfectly insulate. Go with a very high clarity plastic on the interior. It will be flimsy but it will allow better temperature and light spectrum penetration. Or you do it Wanda. The better you manage that the better temperature grade will be enhanced with less heat input as well.
