How to overwinter peppers and get a jump start on next season.

Overwintering pepper plants is not something that I often do. With the climate down here in Houston, it’s not necessary. For some reason, this year, I felt like keeping these two ghost pepper plants, Even though I wish they were scotch bonnets instead.

Overwintering helps you get a head start on your next pepper growing season. Whether it’s spring or summer.

This process works because peppers are actually perennials. They will continue producing for multiple seasons if they don’t experience a freeze.

How to overwinter pepper plants
1. Dig up the pepper from the garden bed
2. Clean off excess soil from the roots
3. Transplant pepper into a pot filled with high-quality organic soil like @heirloom soils
4. Cut the pepper back, leaving only a few main branches
5. Water
6. Keep in a warm spot until the weather is suitable for planting
