  1. That looks like Roselle. It is an annual here. They root very easily. They love heat, like okra heat. Fertilize them 3 or 4 days before you take the cuttings. Good luck, Kaye.

  2. I wish I could send you the dozens of these that pop up in our yard…they reseed themselves everywhere 🤣

  3. Nice job Kaye. I’m going to be looking forward to seeing the outcome of this. The color sounds beautiful!!! Red, cranberry is my favorite color too along with oranges……

  4. I have standard red hibiscus. There is also Rose of Sharon there that we refer to as Holly Hock bushes there in Tennessee, and they are related, but different species. Rose of Sharon has way different colors for the flowers.

  5. Very informative and money saving video for those new to propagation of plants. Your cranberry hibiscus was so beautiful this year and it was sad the weather did not cooperate to get some seeds. I have never used rooting hormone before but have read that you can use willow water, cinnamon, and other items for a homemade option. Look forward to see how they do this coming year.

  6. I really enjoy hibiscus tea as well. I haven't thought it about being an annual in my growing zone. Thank you for sharing all this information. I really like the mini greenhouse for rooting. I really like to grow this beautiful plant/flower for tea. Will having Holly Hocks on the property effect the Hibiscus? I wouldn't want it to cross pollinate.

  7. Thanks for sharing Kaye! It's such a beautiful plant. I found some seeds online and will be planting them next season. I think you'd enjoy Texas Star hibiscus too. It's an annual in our area of the country, with a five lobed leaf and a beautiful star shaped red bloom. They have a long blooming season..

  8. Your hair looks great like that!

I have found over these past 74-ish years that rooting stallks and stems like darkness, so I use dark blue or green bottles and change the water every 3 days. Aspirin dissolved in the water will also kick starts vestigial roots.

  9. What a beautiful hibiscus! I don't have rooting hormone, darn it and winter freeze coming, so hibiscus is under cover now and to be wrapped. Mine is tropical. Love that Cranberry!

  10. Looking forward to an update on the progress on those branches. I bought for the first time this past fall a Hibiscus because I loved yours so much.. Could not find one exactly like it but found one with burgundy and burnt orange leaves with the a burgundy flower. The thing is, I left it outside thinking it was a perennial. Too late to do anything about it now with almost a foot of snow. Great video.

  11. I am sure you meant to say, "after the last frost"? But you said first frost twice, now I am wondering if I am wrong!? Merry Christmas Kaye! I must tell you I love watching you!
