K&SV build 29: Fascia for the third level

The addition of fascia always makes a huge visual difference to the perceived completeness of a model railroad, especially once it’s cut to the landscape profile and then painted. In this installment, I’ll add the fascia and mount the controls permanently.

  1. Good morning sir how are you Victor from New Jersey hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving hope your Christmas and New years is just as well. As usual excellent work I love you technique with the switches and the holes. A couple of questions first one are you completing this entire build when you install it in the house? Question number two how many switch machines on an average build for you? Question number three since you started this business how many railroads have you designed and built getting too personal you don't have to answer of course I would not be offended. Question number four what's on the menu for your next build? And one more you designed a build with a locomotive in the garage lady was going to build a building and she switched to O gauge wonderful woman I remember first class arrival for you and your wife I recall have you heard from her again will you be doing that build again too personal I won't be offended if you choose not to answer. Very anxious looking forward to seeing his build complete your work is impeccable as usual your designs incredible I love the helixes and all your work the switch machines look beautiful the controllers that is. Do you prefer the switches where they are or would you prefer a command Central like a base area or are those layouts too big for a command Central I'm not sure let me know that if you could I picked your brain enough as always I enjoy emailing with you I do agree the facial is everything. Looking forward to your response thank you for your time building as well as your time emailing and as a friend of mine says bye for now

  2. Looks a lot better with the fascia. Will you do a video on taking it apart when it is time to move it?

  3. THANK YOU FOR GREAT IDEAL DETAIL VIDEO
MERRY CHISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW FOR 2023 AS WISH BEST HEARTH AND SAFETY THROUGH THE TIMES

  4. I picked up a comment from you that I'd not heard previously for this build. About you've left the fascia slightly high so the client can cut it down when they install the scenery. So does that mean that, other than the one diorama with the huge trestle bridge, you are "just" providing structure, track and controls? In which case this is looking close to completion. I do hope we are going to continue this story to include the installation and commissioning chapter.
I do admire your work sir.

  5. Are there any screws holding the fascia to the benchwork or do you rely entirely on just glue to hold it in place? Considering the layout is meant to be disassembled and transported I would feel more confident with screws.

  6. Time to go to Home Depot and buy the. Out of clamps again. And maybe pound a few more energy drinks!

  7. Do you ever install schematics for complicated track to simplify identifying turnout controls?

  8. Thank you for a year of watching your development on this layout.
Hope you have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

  9. You've probably answered this in some video, but are there holes in the joists for lighting power? With the fascia on and the upper level largely closed in, the scenic level starts to look a bit dark.

  10. Just want you to know that I'm thankful you showed how you corrected that wrong sized drill hole. I'm one who would have tried to just force something in there instead of making a jig as you did. A lesson learned for me thank you. This is the first time those dioramas really show what they are. Just stunning!
