Garden Plans

Our neighbour set fire to our Homestead! Realities of Australian Homesteading | Got a bushfire plan?

This really hit home for me that we don’t live in Kansas anymore, and I don’t have any ruby slippers, but instead, a pair of boots and I really needed them this day for stepping through some of the charred ambers of our Homestead! If you don’t have a bushfire plan at your place, here’s your reminder πŸ™‚

  1. Far out Suzi, I hope you guys are OK, I hope you're insured, replacing fencing even can be pricey πŸ˜” I'm so sorry, but glad you guys and your animals are ok

  2. Omg Suzi. Not the excitement you need in the lead up to Christmas πŸ™
And good message on fire prep. Where we live it is a huge risk and its something we put a lot of thought and effort into.

  3. Holy cow you gave me a heart attack when I saw this pop up! Is certainly a good reminder to have our bushfire plan in place. So glad everyone was safe ❀

  4. Hopefully your neighbour, covered the cost of your losses, otherwise, that is a court date. Happened to me once near Lismore. Same thing only I lost my workshed, and over a 100k in tools. I had to sue my neighbour, as although he lit the fire and it got out of hand, he wouldn't cover the cost without a courtcase. It ended up costing him over half a mil all said and done. It was blackberries and lantana he was burning.

  5. So apparently I gotta put up with dickheads in the country too if I want to go rural?? LOL!!

  6. Oh Suzi! That would have been so scary!! How lucky that everything got put out and no animals were harmed. How funny that the goat was only after food even with flames around. πŸ˜‚
Thanks for the reminder! I’ll be checking the emergency box (box of special things to take with us) today to make sure it’s up to date.
    Kat 😊
