Getting painted for Australia's most famous portrait prize

A chap by the name of Jeremy Swan sent me a charming email asking if he could paint my portrait for entry into Australia’s most famous art prize- the Archibald. Ego aside, I thought you know what, who am I to deny this friendly young artist a chance at glory! Fearing I wouldn’t like sitting still I said, no worries, as long as I can paint a landscape painting while you paint me. He also said no worries, and we got on with it.

  1. Thanks for sitting Beau it was an absolute pleasure to meet your father Gary and Mitch and the fam. Thanks to Helen for her make shift shade umbrella. Looking forward to creating the final piece.

  2. Really loving these mate…. It's like you are giving us Christmas presents each day with these videos.

Happy Christmas to you and your family and greetings from Ireland!

  3. I was just waiting for the self awareness from Beau that in this video, we was in fact Vincent Van Gogh 😂

  4. Fucken hell, I love you so much beau, still waiting on the pack of lollies you said you'd shout me after my text into the conversation hour.

  5. Loved this video so much, as a long time fan of yours and an artist myself this video was so enjoyable to watch. Loved the paint-ception concept as well ! Looking forward to the rest of the 12 days series . Keep it up Beau 🙂

  6. All your videos are fun to watch Beau, as I to would like to do things like crawl down creeks and all the odd stuff canoing in places where no one goes like you do . Loved this short Vid as at this time of year before everyone cuts the hay, west Gippsland can be absolutely stunning……Loving the 12 days of Newness !

  7. Being of age and how to manage the sequence of returns in those early periods is what seems quite scary in the current market. The market is never a loser in a twenty year cycle, but the 2000s decade scenario scares me and could really disrupt my retirement. When you are no longer accumulating but withdrawing its hard to be anything but cautious.

  8. Good luck Jeremy with the Archie. Love your artwork, Beau. Your Dads art is fantastic. Hope to do the V2 version of your portrait in the future.

  9. Only thing I kinda wish his wife or friends made the list. Him knowing what's next removes a just say yes Factor to new experiance.

  10. Day 2 should have been cut an ear off, day 3 get a portrait looking like Van Gogh

  11. Things like the side story with your dad are the reason why we love these videos. Just a true joy to watch.

  12. Hey Beau,
I thought your painting was lovely. As a painter myself, I think there is something so beautiful about how an untrained artist approaches the same task as those with years of experience. It may not be perfect in the eyes of many but it truly is a masterpiece similar to both jeremy and your dad. Cheers mate, much love!

  13. I hope you're going to auction off the Op Shop Special. Looking forward to an online auction with proceeds going to your favourite charity. Another great story within a story within a story.
