Holidays in the Garden Day 20! :: Planting Native Seeds for a Random Act of Kindness! ๐Ÿ’—

โ€œNo act of kindness is too small. The gift of kindness may start as a small ripple that over time can turn into a tidal wave affecting the lives of many.โ€ -Kevin Heath

Welcome to DAY 20 of the Holidays in the Garden Series! One thing my family and I love doing around the holiday season is random acts of kindness. Itโ€™s the season of giving and joy and I donโ€™t think there is anything else that brings such joy not only to yourself, but also to the recipient of the act. I hope this video inspires you all to do some random acts yourself! ๐Ÿ’— Enjoy!

  1. Where I live the house that is next to that area would have to care for that area. The city only does the islands in the middle of the road.

  2. I think it'll be lovely. When you mentioned taking the watering can over, I thought what a nice act of kindness if that neighbor over the fence used their hose for you, well if it's near that side. You guys have a wonderful weekend.

  3. You go girl. Love to see all your ideas. Freezing here now in SE Wisconsin so Iโ€™m really enjoying watching videos that involve planting ๐Ÿ˜€

  4. Native plants are my obsession right now. Whether it is trees, herbs, berries or flowering plants. It fascinates me and seems odd that I know more about non-native plants. And what a great act of kindness for everyone and the eco-system. The bugs and the bees will love it.

  5. What a wonderful idea!!! One thing you might do is to get in touch with your local public works and talk to the supervisor. Tell him what you're doing and ask him not to spray. I can't wait to see your neighborhood new garden in one of your videos.

  6. I planted Shirley poppies for the 1st time last year, the supreme mix from Floret Flower Farm. I absolutely loved them. I planted more right before Thanksgiving and hope for a good show in the spring.

  7. I always advocate planting natives! I'm so glad you are giving it a shot, can't wait to see that section in it's full bloom. Also I can't help myself from purchasing more seeds aha…..

  8. What a nice idea! I can't wait to see if you're successful with the wildflowers. They will be so pretty! I think I will do the same (with random acts of Kindness, too)! ๐Ÿ’•M

  9. Poppies are so much fun to grow but they need light to germinate so it's better to just sprinkle them and leave alone. Mine come up in my rock yard every year as well as the Blue bells. Everyone walking by asks what the Blue flower is. I just let them go to seed when they are done blooming and is always a surprise on what color comes up the next time. So nice for the act of kindness we need so much more of that in this crazy world right now!

  10. Janey, spreading light and love on YouTube. We need more of this. Thank you for all your hard work on this chanel. P.s Maybe put a sign up 'please don't spray, wild native flowers growing'. Xx

  11. Awww, what a kind and generous act of kindness! Hopefully this will be a gift that keeps on giving! Now eager to see what happens!

  12. The soil is in good condition because of all those leaves youโ€™re putting in the trash.

  13. Janey, I love this, your thoughtfulness is inspiring. Just as unkind comments or actions can ruin someone's otherwise happy day, being kind encourages others to share good deeds and acts of kindness with other folks. Blessings to you and your family. ~Margie๐Ÿค—๐ŸŽ„

  14. What a kind and lovely thing to do Janey! Fun too! You will have to keep us in the loop with how it all goes/grows๐Ÿ˜ as we would love to see how all those seeds do. I am sure that they will be flowering in no time, as you have a โ€˜green thumbโ€™ ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ’š Canโ€™t wait to see them germinate ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ˜€

  15. This is FANTASTIC Janey in SO many ways-individually, civically, environmentally!! On a related note, is this act of kindness an experience you can connect in some way to the Master Gardener program? In any case, its the start of something beautiful! ๐Ÿ’

  16. Yay! You've gone native, LOL! That is a pretty good sized piece of property, and when you were weeding I was thinking that the soil looked really good. A woman in Palo Alto got permission from the city to do a pollinator garden in a similar plot of land, and it turned out amazing! Your random act of kindness not only brings cheer to passersby, but it will also benefit the flora and fauna! Well done! ๐Ÿฅฐ

  17. Hi Janey๐ŸŒบ you are awonderful and generous person my friend l love it .I hope they will grow well for you and for your neighbor .Have awonderful day๐ŸŒป ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŒป
