Backyard Garden Tour! I December 2022

It’s time for my 4th Garden Tour! 😀

December 2022, honestly, i didn’t want to do a Dec tour anymore & push it back because there’s quite a few crops falling behind like all the Eggplants & Capsicums, pumpkins plants aswell since our weather has been pretty cool, windy & wet for Spring/Summer xD But i said i’d do it and here it is! 😀 Honestly The Corn & Zucchini are growing very nicely, my Banana tree has grown so much since last year! My Asparagus are kicking off & i can’t wait to start harvesting them next year! 😀

Things i planted for the first time this year: Winged Pea/Asparagus pea, Dahlia, Small Sugar Pumpkin & Sapphire & White Star!(potato varieties!) 😀

I’m looking forward to trying the Asparagus Pea, it’s got a delicate asparagus flavour hence it’s other name, they only grow about 1inch before harvesting, so i might need to grow more next time to get a bigger harvest!

Small Sugar Pumpkin, will be the first orange pumpkin i’ve grown! I’m superrr excited because i’m actually growing this for my friend & I to carve! 😀 Yes i’ve never carved a pumpkin before, yes this won’t be during Halloween, Summer literally starts in December in Australia xD But i’m just happy for some activity with my dear friend 🙂

My fruit trees, Avocado, Banana & Apple(and possibly Mango) i’m excited for! I harvested 2 apples last year, but i picked it early due to fear of the bats might eating it xD These will be my first Avocado fruits! They seem like they will grow, 5 remained but then 2 feel off weeks later D: But it will be interesting when the right time to harvest it since they don’t actually ripen & just mature instead! My banana tree should fruit this year, if it doesn’t it probably means lack of sunlight since it’s kinda at the back, but either way i kinda really love my dwarf banana tree it’s growing so nicely :DD My Mango tree actually kept a fruit last year but it fell off, now there’s 15x the amount of fruit attempting to bulk up, the plant seems small enough to only grow 1 really small fruit, buy we’ll see xD

I’ve harvested a few things which you can have a look at in community posts & youtube shorts! The Pineapples were so nice & sweeeet! 😀 Hopefully my Capsicum & Eggplants in my garden bed produce a few fruits before Autumn hits or else they become a waste cause i’ll need that bed as soon as my potatoes are ready to plant there for the cool season xD

A few changes in the garden, like i stopped using 2 beds to let them rest during the warm season, 1 i did already prep’ for Winter and the other well, i might plant potatoes there aswell, but not sure yet! One of the middle planting sections i’m finally gonna stop the annoying wild onion weeds by covering them with cardboard and then top it up with soil! Oh and as we’re on this topic, i’m doing a lot more no-dig with my garden! Thanks to Charles Dowding the no-dig master! 🙂 I need to bring my soil microorganism life up a notch, so this will help some!

I’m also filming a ‘How to plant potatoes!’ video! I’m using my 2nd cropping(6 plants) & a Royal Blue & Sapphire bag as the examples for the video 🙂 It will be from start to harvest! I had different plans on when to release it, but i will release it as soon as i harvest them! So around Christmas or New Years time! 😀
