After we moved into this house in August 2021, we realized that we do have many fruit trees and we are eagerly waiting to see the blossoms in our backyard trees This video is recorded on January 9th 2022 at around 9:30-10AM in our backyard. it was a windy cold Sunday morning!
My husband bought a pruning device from Amazon and he is showing how to use that in this video. We are still in the process of learning about the trees in our backyard.
Our puppy Luca is also in the video. Enjoy his zoomies as well. I am starting from our white rose bushes and then to oranges. Oranges love cold climates yet not freezing temperatures. The chill makes the oranges sweeter and brings out the vibrant color of the skin.
The loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) is a large evergreen shrub or tree, grown commercially for its orange fruit and for its leaves, which are used to make tea. It is also cultivated as an ornamental plant. It’s flowers got a delightfully sweet fragrance. Loquat extracts have been used for the treatment of cough, chronic bronchitis (CB), inflammation, diabetes, and cancer in Chinese folk medicine. The loquat seeds contain tiny amounts of cyanogenic glycosides which release cyanide if eaten. The concentration is so low that along with the bitter taste of the seeds, poisoning is rare or unheard of. Eating lots of loquats has a proven noticeable sedative effect, one that lasts up to 24 hours. Fuyu Persimmon tree is the next in line. These persimmons are very sweetly and crunchy. We have many ornamental trees like Crape Myrtle & white/paper birch trees.
There is a tall large Jujube tree in our backyard. Jujube, sometimes jujuba, known by the scientific name Ziziphus jujuba and also called red date, Chinese date. There is also an Asian Pear tree. Asianpear/Pyrus pyrifolia is a species of pear tree native to East Asia.
Next we are going to Golden Delicious apple tree. It is very sweet and crunchy. You can see many Wintergreen Boxwood Evergreen Shrubs. We have a Gazebo in our backyard.
There is special flower called camellia sasanqua pink is also growing in our backyard. Look at our apricot tree, Cherry Tree and plum trees. We are moving on to our front yard. There is a huge cherry tree in our front yard.
No one sits in the porch nowadays because of the cold weather. You can see our Christmas lightings, icicle lights & colorful lights. There is alemon tree in our neighbor’s yard and I want to grow one lime or lemon tree.
“I realize there’s something incredibly honest about trees in winter, how they’re experts at letting things go.”Jeffrey McDaniel

To our pleasant surprise after moving in August of 2021, we realized the many luscious fruit trees we have in our yard! As big fruit-eaters, our family was overjoyed and every season since we eagerly watch the fruit trees change and blossom.

In order to maintain these trees and make sure they continue to grow, pruning is a very important step for its care. Here you can see Soma pruning the fruit trees himself!

Enjoy Luca also enjoying the backyard and trees with his happy zoomies!
