  1. Plants that you mentioned today are not grown here. I did snip any lettuce leaves that still looked fine in the greenhouse and did like you, digging the carrots so far back from the edge but use plastic bags full of leaves for my cover. May dig some up if we are getting a major snow fall.

  2. Great video Greg
That was my job last Thursday – cut and process my kale and collards! Done.
I still have a hundred or so leeks in the ground that have to come out and half a big bed of parsnips…not sure what went on with the parsnips this year but they are monsters! Lots of them that are 4 – 5" in diameter at the top and almost 15" long…a real bugger to get out of the ground!
Then I have 2 beds to put to sleep for the winter and I am done….for now! 😁
Your collards look great…I made up several collards and leek pies last week and froze them. Delicious!
    Anyway…have a great day!

  3. When you have summer heat you have insects. As for kale, I’m guessing the summer kale tries to keep insects away by producing toxins in the leaves. In the fall and winter, there are no insects, so no need for toxins. That’s why the winter kale tastes better than the summer kale, namely fewer toxins. This is just a guess on my part.

  4. So bountiful. Did this yesterday , but got hit by deer in Sept so my harvest was little

  5. Is your family going to eat all that vegetable? Or share with other families?

  6. Wonderful you were able to leave everything in this long. My terminal pick was November 9th but I didn’t get my kale plants pulled but luckily it is too cold for them to overwinter. We put our carrots into two Rubbermaid totes with damp fine gravel and stored them in a room heated to +5 (didn’t have sand). The carrots have been firm and sweet. We had our first blanched kale from the freezer last week. Big hit with everyone.

  7. Good on you Greg! Brrrr ❄
Always something that NEEDS to be done. Sometimes many somethings. Keeps us on our toes I guess 😁

  8. My final pick was today, (Dec 12). Lots of carrots and a half dozen rutabaga. I had to move a bit of snow and the leaf mulch to get at them, but the ground was still soft enough. You've got a good haul there. Happy preserving 🙂

  9. Hi Greg, I`m thinking about spring planting and getting seeds from Vesey`s again this coming year to support your channel. Is there a coupon code for 2023? Thx, Keep up with the good work and keep us newbies informed.
