We are in USDA planting zone 9b in California and we grow as much food as we can on our 7,000 square-foot city lot. We have quail, chickens, rabbits, edible landscaping garden, and preserve food.

  1. Wish I had rain instead of snow. Been sliding all around any time I go someplace. I have a house hen now. My friend didn't want to do any butchering so she gave me a hen that was not laying and taking a very long time to regrow her feathers after the molt. I had just proscesed 7 quail roos and had no room in either freezer so I kept her in the house and she has started laying again. Chickens, it seems, make great house pets! I call her "Red".😊
