Shielded Supply Cable For Large Tesla Coil



Construction of a shielded mains supply cable for my large Kaizer DRSSTC3 Tesla coil. Using braided copper tubing, polyester cloth and terminations, a sturdy and professional cable pack is made.

  1. Are you also tired of tin foil wrapping your own hats, cables and takeaway food? Consider making a fixed shielded cable and you have more tinfoil for hats and food!

  2. Cool. Any reason why you didn't twist them in a uniform spiral? I also wonder why the cloth cover is so loose? It would be much more manageable if it was a bit tighter. Still a well done mod.

  3. Nice technique with the pipe. Even applying braid to small cables is a bugger. Thank you!
    A bit late now, but a sequenced LED string going down the cable might add show value for the PC gamers.

  4. For the ends heatshrink sleeving over the last half metre each side will do wonders, and also running a length of that braid inside the knitted shield, so as to make for a low impedance connection all the way down, as otherwise the sharp edges will couple through, but with good LC filters and MOV clamps both sides not really an issue.
