This Vintage 1940's Train Caboose Has Sat ABANDONED in the Forest for Over 30 Years!

Sitting in the woods lies this vintage 1940s CP Rail Train caboose. The man that owned it was a famous Canadian author and television personality. The Caboose was a gift from his family and was placed on the property in the 80’s. The man passed in 2004 and his home and Caboose were abandoned shortly after.

  1. I'd say that the rails on the side of the caboose would be used to swing on or off a slow moving train .

  2. When in use that toilet dumped right out on the tracks. Just the way it was back then. This is why you wouldn't want to use it sitting still. You'd end up with a big stinky pile under the caboose.

  3. I was almost sleep and realized I didn’t comment on this explore. That thick walked box is a fridge, some of the used actual blocks of ice. Some caboose did have a fireplace for heat in the winter months. Also enjoy watching the explores!! Keep Orange Crushing It!

  4. Love this video πŸ“Ή. What a nice little caboose . It would make a great mini house 🏠 πŸ˜€. Take care πŸ™‚ πŸ’• πŸ’œ

  5. I totally like the idea of having a caboose in the back yard, I think this one used to be quite cozy, now quite some stuff must be missing. Without the rails it would probably not be sitting stable enough on this ground for a long time.

Did you mean that in Canada there were no trains with opening windows? I remember well when in Switzerland basically all trains had opening windows, then they started to make the more modern ones with air conditioning. However it is still a mistake to make the windows non-opening because it is hardly possible to stay in there in Summer when the air conditioning fails, which is not too rare a case.

That shelf above the sink would have held a water barrel with a faucet I guess.

  6. Maybe the guy wanted it for like a clubhouse for his kids if he had any. Because imagine as a kid how cool it would be to have an actual train caboose as your clubhouse.

  7. Love the vids but @abandoned urban Canada seeks to beat you to some locations… All cool tho, keep it up Noah πŸ‘

  9. Thought I recognised this train. I saw another explorer some time ago explore it. I think Abandoned Urbex Canada?? Not sure now. Love the view (4:40) as you walk up the hill, the fresh snow everywhere and sunlight shining though trees, on the ground.

Yes, it was him. Here's the description on his vid.
Deep in the woods this 1940’s CP Rail Caboose sits abandoned and is in great shape for its age. The owner of this large wooded property passed away in 2004. There are reports his ashes are scattered on the property as this was his favourite place to be. He really enjoyed his caboose and property. The caboose was a birthday gift from his children at a cost of $20,000. They had the tracks installed and they hired 2 large cranes to pick up the caboose and set it in its place in the 1980’s. They must have cleared trees to get the caboose in this spot. It’s even on a hill so it’s just amazing on how they got it here. Now over 30 years later the forest has grown over and it’s very hidden in the woods. Removing this caboose would be costly and a lot of trees would have to be clear out and a roadway would need to be built.

  10. Love it Noah. I think it should be in a museum too. Poor old train, left to rot. So neat and comfy beds. Oops, glad you got your drone back. What an adventure.

  11. I wonder if that red cord that you pulled on is for holding onto while the train was in motion. Or, it could be what you say. To call the conductor. Stay safe! Love from South Carolina πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
